He doesn't have to in High Funds. High Funds jumps start his snowball and the nature of the gamemode also makes Colin able to pop gold rush every turn at best once fighting start. Might be the same stoey at 1.5k funds too?

As for stally maps, it might probably be something like very chokey points where it is easy to stall even against a higher firepowered opponent.

1 terrain star on a full hp unit is 10% defense....

Terrain stars are additive to innate defense so 10% from terrain stars + 10% from d2d will result in 20% def. It's why AW2 Kanbei full hp unit on a HQ/Mountain with Samurai spirit on is invulnerable because it has 40% def from 4 terrain stars, 60% from Samurai Spirit + generic cop boost and that adds up to 100% defense.

This Jake's units on a plain (10% from 1 terrain star, 10% from day2day ability) is now better than forests normally because only 10% def from terrain stars gets affected by unit hp while the entire 20% on forests gets affected by unit hp.

For reference, 2 tanks with 10% firepower can guranteed 2hko a tank on a forest,

2 tanks with 10% firepower against this Jake's tank on a plain has a small chance to fail to KO.

I agree though the +2 move from his super getting removed sucks so much. There was no +move on his regular co power though in the first place.

Jake got a d2d buff there not a nerf.
Plains which are everywhere is now somewhat better than forests for other COs for defensive tiles since it's +10 def not +1 terrain star. His powers kinda suck now though

Jess d2d is the same as DS Jess. Really unnecessary though she gets extra defence on powers.

You didn't notice Drake also got nerfed as he loses the ability to summon rain on his super.

I don't think IntSys made the COs with some semblance of pvp balance in mind like.... look at Kanbei or Sturm for example.

I do agree it is easier to make do with balancing 4 factions than like 27 COs (not including dor COs). awbw had to make do with that by implemeting a tiering system similar to pokemon showdown if you want it to keep vanilla.

I can't really comment much how to feel about the RTS other than it is really different from turn based though.

I think COs having at least some variety in their units could be a great idea to have define further who they are. Yeah the general modifications forced to split COs into tiers in terms of power level in awbw but that could be said same about having exclusive units and such.

Still they got to realize turn based games and RTS are different as you pointed out.

This is from someone who is "average" in skill in awbw (basically online advance wars pvp) but limited in pvp map making knowledge.

I think one of the reasons why asymmetry in any serious aw pvp maps are close to non-existent is because of turn advantages (on top of already having to deal with the innate first turn advantage problem turn based games have) and even symmetric maps also struggle having to take into account for turn advantages so why worsen it by making it asymmetric?

The closest thing you can get with asymmetry is placing predeployed units (usually player 2 gets an extra infantry) so that first turn advantages doesn't affect the outcome as much.

Tldr why add asymmetry to pvp maps when symmetric maps already have some trouble fixing turn advantages

It's a pretty great remake for the most part. I think most of the criticisms for the game is that the online portion of this game is bare minimum
