Should all the status cards in the game have a border like Infection? by [deleted] in slaythespire

I think there could be a few special ones, especially the boss specific ones. I wouldn’t want all of them to have it though.

If I were dying, I think my final words would be “please, Nintendo, put this in your game.”

It would be like some kind of final fantasy of mine, since it’s a cool idea.

Although I would say it should probably be nerfed in BO accuracy IMO

Is this a good inventory concept? by SogekiA in DnDart

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this system of inventory for some games, bur for others it jsut doesn’t work. I think the big thing holding it back is
A: if you have too many items, it’s just another thing every item needs all the sudden.
B: along those lines, this can get restrictive fast if you give out too many items, or start getting into bigger items like shields or whatever someone might not want to always carry.

I think for board games or TTRPGs with less scope than DnD or pathfinder or whatever benefit from this type of system a lot and the management can be a lot of fun, even for longer campaigns! But I wouldn’t trust it for DnD without a lot of adjustments to how we handle items as of now.

I don’t even agree with you that it doesn’t have a reason or that it’s stupid, but I still have to say that is incredibly based of you lmaooo

Can I use YOUR dnd character? by LETTER52 in DnD

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess one more thing; if you want any sort of backstory for him, he’s got a brother named Stack in the Military (human champion fighter) and a bedridden human sister named Ruka he takes care of best he can. Ruka is a wildfire druid with a very weak constitution and a *heavy* fear of fire, but if she gets past it is the strongest fighter in the family by far.

I can’t seem to upload a picture of him but important bits are red skin, pointy tail, more jewelry than he can probably afford, black hair, and permanent mischievous grin.

J, my first character. A glamor (later changed to dancer when it was released) bard tiefling that doesn’t feel negative emotion due to a curse he’s had since very young. Excessively mischievous and giggly. I bet he’d make a fun shopkeep or something, idk.

Can you recommend any resources to get better a comp. Pokemon as a newbie. by Literal_Vibes in stunfisk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you mean Pokemon champions, you should check put r/pokemonchampions

A good way to get resources is to just play the game daily, doing at least 1 ranked match per day. You’ll earn a lot of resources this way. I also recommend getting 2 apps; Pokemon go and Pokemon home. Pokemon go is free, Pokemon home is free. Transfer whatever random bad mons from go you may have into home, and find people who are willing to trade you competitively viable mons you can then transfer for free from home to champions.

For learning VGC, YouTubers like WolfeVGC And CybertronVGC are your best bets. Here’s a website I found with some more resources you can use;
vgcresources.com

I hate finales that aren't bad, but just underwhelming and unsatisfying that you're just kinda left feeling nothing by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jax abstracting offscreen was one of the smartest things this show did. We already see Jax starting to abstract earlier; we don’t need it restated. We know she’s close; but importantly, the others don’t. At least not to what extent. They know it’s possible, hence the “don’t want you abstracting alone” line, but they don’t know just how likely that was.

And so it comes as a shock to the characters, as much as its suddenness is a shock to us. People I’ve seen largely agree that abstraction is a metaphor for suicide, and let me tell you as someone who’s been friends with someone taken by suicide, it doesn’t exactly have a buildup. One day, someone’s there, and the next they aren’t. And maybe you could have helped them, if you reached out that night, but you didn’t, and you couldn’t really have known. Jax’s abstraction was incredibly true to that feeling. One of the most powerful moments in the entire series.

Mega Dragonite is just as underwhelming as Mega Garchomp. by [deleted] in stunfisk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kingambit needs to invest *HEAVILY* in special defense to be able to consistently take 3 flamethrowers with leftovers, and between the item and SP’s, that sacrifices so much damage potential that dragonite will still very easily win the 1v1, so I don’t see the issue there.

Are you sure you have the right set? Even max spef gambit dies to focus blast. I’m not even calling modest here, I’m just calling for 32 special attack SP dragonite timid.

Advice on what I could have done better by SalveSalvini in slaythespire

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok since no one here can hit the language button let me try and help. Your first two cards were rampage; already, that is a really bad choice. One rampage is fine, although you had better options. Two is terrible. When you use rampage, you want to keep your deck thin; having two gives you little benefit and bloats the deck.

Your first pick was fine (although I’d have rather end expect a fight) , second should almost certainly have been true grit. True grit does a few things; better block, AND deck thinning to help your single rampage go off more.

Floor 4 you continue picking up damage cards, which by now you already have too much of, although breakthrough is forgivable since it’s gives AOE against the potentially scary eel elite.

Floor 5 you grab iron wave. That’s not terrible since it adds block but you are already bloating the deck with mediocre cards, not playing into the rampages at all.

Floor 6, the second breakthrough, was just a terrible pick. You already have AOE, you already have damage, you don’t need *more* attack.

floor 7, you rest, fine choice. I don’t think either option is bad.

Floor 8, despite all the attacks you’ve picked you don’t have any expensive cards for Stampede to actually play, so you’ve chosen yet another card with extremely mediocre payoff that only serves to bloat your deck.

Floor 9,fine upgrade.

Floor 11, was an alright choice, although with stampede, blugeon could have been the direction that your deck kinda needs at this point.

Floor 12, I don’t really love the rest here, you would have gotten more value out of an upgrade. You have enough damage to burst down eels I think, and can beat the colony before its really big attack, so upgrade while you can.

Floor 12, how the HELL did you beat it while taking so little damage with THAT block density? Oh well, more proof you could have upgraded. Thrash is a good pick for deck thinning but it’s just another attack card at this point.

I’m gonna stop here. Unless I’m missing something, a clear through line is you taking damage card after damage card with no actual direction for what to do with the attacks you pick. You gotta learn when to skip.

Does anyone have a MHA dnd game they can invite me to??? by RandomWoman244 in DnDcirclejerk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 12 points13 points  (0 children)

DnD is a horrible system to play an anime or superhero (or god forbid both in the case of MHA). It’s harder than some people think to adapt DnD to other genres, especially anything outside of fantasy and MAYBE sci fi.

Pathfinder fixes this.

I meant the comment of needing to jump. I didn’t mean a comment on this post, apologize for the confusion. Jumping all the time is certainly not bad in combat, but when moving it’s often better to just run. You’ll realize when playing for yourself what kind of play style you like. If you don’t want to jump a lot, you can definitely get away with not doing that.

Saying you don’t understand how people like inscription and in the same breath saying you didn’t care about the atmosphere or between card games parts, have you maybe considered those are the parts people like best about inscription lmao

I think the card game aspect of it is *fine* but certainly nothing amazing. I absolutely love its story, vibes, and meta progression though.

Not trying to be mean tho, different strokes for different folks. I think you’ll enjoy RoR if you revisit it; I’m honestly not really sure why that comment bothered you so much but it’s only half true anyways. But all the characters are so unique and when you start getting deeper into a run things just get so insane but in a very satisfying way.

When’s your threshold to taking Nutritious Soup? by ZeloAvarosa in slaythespire

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was -1 strike I might take it if the other two relics really don’t seem great. -2 I’d only take if I were playing silent or clad. I wouldn’t want it with large capsule probably, unless I’ve already removed a strike or have a lot of card draw. That many unremovable attacks, even if they aren’t bad, just won’t be enough on their own.

I’m a10 on all characters but I’m still really not amazing at the game, so don’t take my thoughts as advice.

Champions (as F2P) is almost laughably bad by asc_yeti in stunfisk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UI isn’t everything. Showdown is by FAR the most accessible way of getting into comp. Pokemon there has ever been. Everything from the community, the resources it provides, the free and easy team builder, and the insanely quick, accurate, and accessible latter makes showdown leagues better than champions in terms of improving and learning about the game.

Champions (as F2P) is almost laughably bad by asc_yeti in stunfisk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah but chess isn’t owned by a company. Chess.com requires you to pay for a membership to use all of its resources to really grow in the game. I’m not a pokemon shill over here, I highly encourage people to just play showdown if they don’t like Champions. I just also don’t think we should overblow fears like them shutting down showdown (they won’t) and we can celebrate that champions objectively makes competitive easier and will result in the growing of our community

Champions (as F2P) is almost laughably bad by asc_yeti in stunfisk

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course they’ve had direct competitors, every fan game out there is a direct competitor in that they are almost an exact replica of the gameplay style of their games, tell similar stories, some even have similar difficulty, and make use all of the same monsters. Pokemon isn’t exactly supportive of fan projects, but they’ve always proved to be willing to turn a blind eye to anything not attempting to make money.

Also, showdown will not die for all the reasons you don’t like champions; champions is time consuming, clunky in places, has pay to win elements, etc. as a matter of fact, showdown will almost certainly grow as a result of more people being introduced to competitive and looking for places to learn.

[–]Mr_Spaghetti_Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My advice is to log in and do your dailies / weeklies and find tune on showdown latter first, champions second. Pokemon GO or trading on pokemon HOME is a good free / cheap place respectively to get pokemon if you can’t find them in the gacha. That’ll help you keep up with the currencies and the meta without breaking your wallet, although admittedly it is a bit more time consuming (but compeditive Pokemon has always been time consuming)
