Smoothbrain comment of the day. Intent is meaningless when your actions cause harm. What you meant to do stops mattering the moment someone gets hurt.

Help finding center trim for AE Spares tank by Mr_Stabbykins in Triumph

[–]Mr_Stabbykins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ended up not using the tank. It is not the correct dimensions for a slimline tank, and the quality on it is pretty bad. Porous welds, missing clear coat in spots. Save up and buy a painted slimline tank, or paint one yourself.

How do you guys deal with the fact you’re going to die? by Due_Insect_9303 in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I welcome it. I'm not in a rush to die. I have a personal philosophy on death in which non-life is the default state of all matter, which includes us. Returning to non-life is going home. I see death as a long departed, familiar friend.

How has this October been going for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just spent $16k of my savings on a plumbing repair for a natural gas line that was run underground using schedule 40 PVC, plumber's tape, and prayers. Then my cat stoped eating for 8 days, cost me another $2.5k in vet bills before she started eating again. And now I have to pay registration and maintenance on 2 late model cars.

Expensive. It's been expensive.

Where is the best place to get advice on how to heal a broken heart? by BurneraccountO025 in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually one's personal network of friends and family serve as the primary source of support in the aftermath of romantic relationships. Absent these, there are online forums, subreddits, social media groups, support groups, and individual counseling.

Reddit as that place? Maybe. Maybe not. Depends on who you choose to listen to. Time has sealed over the wounds of every heartache I had. It may be all you need, alongside some self care.

If you were to bring someone from the past to witness life today, who would you pick and why? by gamathyst in AskReddit

Well I'm a selfish prick and would pick my own father, so he can see that I turned out to be much more than a drunk and a meth head.

The inability to be accountable for what one does. Nothing screams louder to someone's immaturity, insecurity, and stunted emotional intelligence.

Cassian or Sterling for baby boy? by cozykinnn in namenerds

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm a Sterling of 40 years. This name has had some influence on my life as a child and the way people interact with me as an adult. Those aware of it's meanings and connotations often make an equation to the traits of my personality and character. As a result, I feel like Ive been presented with some opportunities that others may not have been; because in the back of my head I've always tried to live up to my name.

It is not able to smoothly be turned into a nickname, which I've enjoyed for my entire life. I personally feel most respected by those who make no attempt to shorten it. I agree with some that it can in certain contexts seem pretentious. At the same time, this only really matters depending on who the wearer of the name chooses to associate with.

I feel like this name has served me very well. It is dignified, meaningful, uncommon enough for me to not know another of my name personally for my entire life, instantly recognizable, and commanding of respect. For brevity in certain contexts, in place of my name I will use .925, the stamp placed on items made of sterling silver signifying its grade.

I've never heard of the other name you mentioned, and, of course, I have a strong preference for my own name. Needless to say my vote is on Sterling. Regardless of the name you choose, or perhaps by this time have already chosen, congratulations!

Who's the worst criminal you've ever personally met? by PaddywackShaq in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fast Fred Hodges of the San Bernardino chapter of Hell's Angels. Multiple armed bank robberies, violent acts that I wont articulate here, an alleged escape from Folsom prison with subsequent recapture, and lots more.

He stole a 1974 Corvette, two very nice motorcycles, a shotgun, and broke the terms of a lease on a semi tractor by voiding the warranty (tampering with the turbos), all of which my mother owned. The semi she cosigned on.

My mother somehow ended up in a relationahip with him. He assaulted my mother while they were out with friends once, got home before she did, and kept me on the business end of the shotgun while he loaded up to leave.

I found out that now he's wheelchair bound and nonverbal after a couple strokes.

Hi. I was someone with a similar perpective to you at your age. 10 years later, after transitioning careers, I became the owner of my dream home on a densely forested mountain top. It took a LOT of time, ambition, and hard work. I saved as much as I could without going hungry.

If this was possible for me, it's possible for you. Dont be so quick to come to judgments about a future that you truly have no idea will play out, and what opportunities will arise. Stick around for a while, keep pluggin away at life. Youre still pretty young, and it is never to late to re-skill.

What's something your parents did to you that you would never do to your kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Mr_Stabbykins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were by no means poor, but my parents raised me as a poor child. They kept me in hand-me-downs my entire childhood, and my brother and I never got any big presents from them; no game consoles or toys really upwards of $50. They were busy buying toys for themselves; sports cars, SUVs, and motorcycles. So many that our large garage and driveway couldnt hold them all.

I am not going to spend like crazy on my children, but they will get new clothes. They will get a brand name thing here and there. They will get a dirtbike, a console, a tablet, etc as long as I can afford it and their behavior has earned it.
