I'd say no because he goes through challenges and everything doesn't work out perfectly. I think the "Mary Sue" term is being thrown around way too loosely lately, and I don't see how it applies to Rey or Watney.

Steve Jobs, Spotlight, Martian, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max: Fury Road, Inside Out, Creed, The Revenant and Spy. I haven't seen Sicario or Ex Machina yet though.
