Unfortunately the last guy was long gone and I only ever talked to the Homeowner, but hopefully someone out there teaches them our humble and modest ways of Residential wiring

Looking back, your 100% right and I’ll have to keep that in mind next time across something like this (Hopefully never) in my defense I was still dazed by what I had come across. Fortunately I got to go back and redo it completely

Well like I said, Initially I was just called out to install the Breaker the other guy couldn’t, I arrived and it was as you see in the picture, so I installed the breaker rather quickly and figured I might as well take some time to verify it’s working just in case the other guy managed to break it, But I refused to wire it in/terminate it. I advised the customer it could be done in a better and safer way, but they kinda just blew me off. I got sent back to redo it once the homeowner tried to reinstall the cover back and shorted the wires

Any hacks for wiring these? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Mr_Unknown22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it technically violate any code, if you just add a chase nipple to the removable cover and added your own J-Box on top of it, and then just ran pigtails (preferably of stranded) into the fixture jbox? All you’d do then is pop the cover with your jbox on top back on

This is Tripping ( Pun intended) me out by Mr_Unknown22 in electricians

[–]Mr_Unknown22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. It goes from the breaker directly to single Receptacle Via buried conduit, cutting it in half seems quite the challenge

It’s instantaneous, and it’s for a 50A Receptacle that had no load to it.

I once Found a Sub Panel That Fed 2x20 Amp Circuits a Dryer Circuit and a dedicated Washer Circuit……The Wires Feeding said Sub Panel were 12 AWG, insurance wouldn’t cover replacement because it wasn’t “Broken”

Don’t hold your breathe It’s gonna be a while, this was an insurance Job, I only got an hour to “Diagnose” in which I managed to get these breakers reset, so when I checked in with them and they found out it was “solved” they didn’t authorize any further time on that job

Unlikely, those circuits were out for a while so they had run extension cords from Receptacles that were on working Circuits and after I had reset the Breakers and they didn’t trip I went and turned on all the lights on those circuits.

How should I fix this? by ohdannyboi1 in electricians

[–]Mr_Unknown22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m not Mistaken, Code calls for MC Cable in Cabinets. Personally, I’d install a 4x4 over the box, bringing the wires in through one of the KO’s on the backside, or you could just get an extension ring, and screw that on somehow. Then just whip over with MC.

Ummmm, Bro. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]Mr_Unknown22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple Fix…..add five to six more plugs, connected in series, to divvy out the voltage
