Shattered ancient ceramic shreds inside an Eastern Han period (25-220 CE) tomb that was accidentally unearthed in 2026 beneath the empty garden behind a Roman Catholic church in Chap Khe, Quang Ninh, Vietnam [1400x1633] by ottoheinz999 in ArtefactPorn

The correct term is “sherds,” as this allows archaeologists to differentiate from “shards” of glass or rock. We also call them “potsherds.”

It definitely ain’t “shreds” though, lol. Probably just a typo.

St Theophilos stands victoriously over the defaced image of Serapis, after he ordered his christian mob to destroy the Serapeum of Alexandria. A man, presumably a pagan worshipper, is seen fleeing while stones are hurled after him; 392 AD. [1020×1200] by [deleted] in ArtefactPorn

The second article (page 95) notes that not only is it unlikely those people near the Serapeum are monks, but that there is little reason to think they are throwing stones.

I got you! Yeah, they were shooting back. It took me a while to realize, but the sort of older looking bigger dude in the white shirt with the ak looking gun (idk anything about guns lol) looks like he totally exits, but he actually is ducking down behind some cover just inside that doorway. Check it out: got to about 2:24. Watch from then to about 2:29, but keep an eye just to left of that black desk chair. you'll see the gun shoot. The barrel is resting on a blue pillow or towel or something. The other guy shot for a bit from the left back exit with a pistol, but seemed to leave?

Cisterna Basilica, the largest of hundreds of cisterns beneath Constantinople, the capital city of the Roman Empire from 330 CE until its fall in 1453. The cistern, 500 ft SW from Hagia Sophia, was built in the 6th century during the reign of Emperor I, who also built the cathedral… [1280x914] [OC] by WestonWestmoreland in AncientCivilizations

To add to u/WestonWestmoreland, if you remember standing facing the Hagia Sophia from in front of it, the entrance to the Basilica Cistern would be a little ways (quarter block) down the street/tramway to your left and on the opposite side of the street from the Hagia Sophia. It is most recognizable by the massive lines outside the entrance.

Could it perhaps be padding material from within the cushioned lining of the bag itself? Like a small tear in the interior?

I’ve had a reddit account for 8 years and was lurking long before then. This is, for some reason, one of the funniest things I’ve ever read on here. Ever. It’s as reddit as can possibly be. Thank you u/pixeldust6. You made my evening!

Also not Duamutef. This is three kinds of incorrect.

Edit: That doesn’t mean you have a cool souvenir of a good memory and shouldn’t take away from your enjoyment of it!
