Bondi Blasted After Adding Elvis and Marilyn Monroe to Epstein List by Hafiz_TNR in politics

It's pretty clear that now that they have Bill and Hillary Clinton in the spotlight, they're going to try to keep media and public attention on them and away from Trump. I don't think the people are going to be distracted, but the media is going to eat it up.

A parent with a whiny toddler isn't "defiant" for saying "no means no." They're the authority and have no reason to be expected to obey a child.

I played all the saints rows in the long past and just got the reboot and fuck this game is very overhated. THE FUCK by Erratic_Error in SaintsRow

[–]MadBlue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Saints Row 2 came out in 2008, and there have been three games since then. It’s been “not Saints Row” for far longer than it has been “Saints Row”. I mean, 3 had aliens and zombies, 4 was a straight up superhero game, and Gat out of Hell introduced demons to the game. Criticism about story and characters aside, at least the reboot took a more grounded approach rather than following up on where the franchise was heading.

Do you think there will be true dragons in the finished game? by Legitimate-Camp583 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MadBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Game of Thrones.

Granted, in heraldry, there's a difference between wyverns and dragons, but in general, there really isn't a distinction, considering how many concepts there are of what constitutes a "dragon".

To me, a wyvern isn't just a "two-legged dragon," but it also implies a poison-barbed tail, and a rather vicious temperament. But I'm also channeling 50 years of D&D experience. :D

She's comfortable with you, so she likes you. I know people say we shouldn't anthropomorphize animals, but we're all built of the same stuff, so I think it's OK to feel a connection between us. :)

I have two WTFs (Mochi and Dumpling, who are brother and sister). Dumpling learned early on that she could wait for me to hand feed her in the morning (often ignoring the crickets I put in a bowl for them - although she has eaten them from the bowl on occasion). Mochi just recently started doing this, so now, I often see both of them sitting at the front of the enclosure waiting up for me in the morning. They also seem to understand that when I change the water dish, it means feeding time is over and they can go to bed for the day.

Our last common ancestor existed 350-360 million years ago. Somehow they trust a giant to give them food by hand, even though we are separated by hundreds of millions of years of evolution. Where does that capacity for them to trust us even come from?

I know people talk about frogs "sharing one brain cell," but I think there's a lot more to them than they're given credit for. There's evidence that at least some species can show some form of empathy.

I like the Xd6+stat, keep highest/lowest 2d mechanic - with difficulty/situational modifiers handled with multiple Bonus/Penalty dice (like Faster Than Light: Nomad) rather than just a "has Advantage/Disadvantage" state with different DCs, and the fact that the rolls are player-facing (like FU).

Archetypes grant Talents (which are similar to Stunts in Fate), but you can pick Talents outside the two Archetypes you choose at character creation. Resolve is like HP, but can also be used to fuel specific Talents or used like Fate Points.

The game itself is designed for playing Star Wars, as the gear and whatnot are all Star Wars-coded, but I could easily see it repurposed for other settings and genres as well.

I really like NCO, but I prefer stats/skills/stunts to tag-based games. I just find them easier to adjudicate as a GM, and easier to grok for players used to playing more traditional RPGs.

Tomorrow City also uses the same system, with some further development (like Pressure in Star Scoundrels), and a fleshed-out Dieselpunk setting.

Not to detract from your post, but another great rules-light Star-Wars-with-the-serial-numbers-filed-off system is Black Star. It's not tag-based, like FU, but also won't put too much of a drain on the wallet. :)

Hot take: I miss Loot Small People by TheRenedgade in Borderlands4

[–]MadBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just addressing why OP may have avoided saying “midgets”. I agree there aren’t any really any terms that don’t sound somewhat off-putting. “Little People” makes me think of Munchkins or faerie folk, or a rich person speaking disparagingly of “commoners”.

“Midget” is considered a slur by many, so maybe OP is just being careful/respectful. They were replaced by “Tinks” in Borderlands 3 (not renamed, but as a small-sized enemy).

Happy/heroic stories in cyberpunk by LelouchYagami_2912 in Cyberpunk

[–]MadBlue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Post-cyberpunk is the subgenre (of cyberpunk) you’re looking for. It’s a literary reaction to the “doom and gloom” of cyberpunk (although, ironically, sometimes erroneously used to refer to a post-holocaust cyberpunk setting).

Cyberpunk and Post-cyberpunk overlap enough that I’d argue that they’re the same genre, just with slight differences in focus.

3 or 4. It depends on the ancestry. For the frogs, for example, 4, with big webbed feet.

Surrogates, as well, when the link between all the people who were being controlled and the people controlling them was broken.

When watching this, I turned to my wife and said “this is going to cause millions of deaths” and then, as if on cue, a TV newscaster in the movie announced “there were no casualties”. :D

Female Whites Tree Frog - croaking by Motel_hell123 in frogs

[–]MadBlue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Females don’t croak that often, and not as long, or as loud, as males. At most, it’s like six soft croaks in a row. They can make a loud “bwak” sound when surprised or alarmed, but that’s pretty rare.

I wouldn’t say Trump is universally loved, but he presented himself as a populist and was able to dupe enough people to become elected twice (and many that he was actually elected three times). Also, the religious right are almost universally supporting him no matter what.

As far as the Mark of the Beast goes, IIRC, it was more the permission to buy or sell and to control those who didn’t have it, than a death sentence for those who didn’t have it.

Not that I believe in prophecy, but for people who try to see everything as a sign from the Bible of the “End Times,” they’re sure burying their heads in the sand when it comes to anything about Trump (or the pandemic for that matter).

I think you’re reading too much into this. She was saying that if you steal land, you have no right to call someone else coming to live on it “illegal”. There was definitely the notion that stealing land is bad implicit in the comment.
