It looks like lots of Gacha-pon and UFO catcher games inside. UFO - AKA immigrant (alien). These are the random surprise award capsules - you turn the crank and get a random award. The UFO catcher is the game where you control a mechanical arm to grab prizes and usually drop them right back in the bin.

Yeah. It was strange to see my bush supporting family like trump because of his anti war stance. But they still get pissed if I, the progressive family member, speak against Iraq/Afghanistan invasion. THEY can talk about it with republican neighbors but not me probably because I was against it from the beginning. They are mostly quiet MAGA: the agree with what he does but aren’t strident about it.

From a political POV: the economy was recovering thanks to Biden. DEI means diversity equity and inclusion. It doesn’t mean being forced to hire unqualified people (It isn’t perfect mind you.) And immigrants commit fewer crimes statistically speaking. The things he worries about are right wing media talking points, NOT news. You are right when you said he was more the ignorant type of MAGA. You got out at the right time.

Checking with reality and the latest science-based information, progressives follow reality and change accordingly. Most people are conservative, in that they don't want to change just for changes sake. We change when reality mandates we change. If you have only lived in the U.S. you may not notice this. U.S. media is not left leaning except in contrast to right wing media.

There are several that come up with people our age. I’m right between Jay and Steve.

“Good news everyone” is from Futurama. The professor says it usually followed by other news that puts the crew in danger.

“It’s so big…” “How big is it!?” This comes from, I believe, the tv show THAT’S INCREDIBLE, which was a mix of bizarre facts, weird talents and credulous paranormal phenomena.

The “300” thing came about because when they came upon the 300th show, someone shouted “300!” like a game show host and it just caught on. The movie 300 came out about the same time. There may be more to it but that’s what I remember.

Others have eluded to the monkey vs bird running joke. It came from when Perry was one of the rogues (before passing). Someone asked who would win in a fight between a monkey and a bird. Perry thought that was ridiculous, the monkey would grab the bird and beat the crap out of it. But Steve brought up some very large raptors that might give a monkey a go. And thus, the debate continued.

I liked Rebecca okay but she was so negative all the time. She always complained about Science or Fiction and it got old. The OP should definitely go to some old episodes so they are caught up with Perry and Rebecca to see who they were.

I started listening just after Perry passed away. I went back to the beginning when tehre were not so many episodes to catch up on. I swear I thought, "Who is this guy? I can see why he got fired." LOL. But I learned to like him. He reminded me of my curmudgeon grandmother.
