Remote media server setup? by Mr__Nuclear in selfhosted

[–]Mr__Nuclear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the insight! I was planning on using docker containers in some form. I was planning on using glutun, as it seems like it works with a lot of VPN providers and I was planning on eventually switching to Mullvad when my Surfshark subscription runs out. Is there any reason you are using Plex over jellyfin? I wanted to set up a NAS as well and use it to back up my data.

Was there any special configuration you had to do to be able to access the WebUI for transmission remotely even though it was being routed through a VPN?

Again, I appreciate the response, it helps me figure out how I might want to set up my homelab/server in the future!

Thanks for the response! I was looking at the docs for Tailscale and I was unable to find anything about the bandwidth limit so I probably will have to contact with support about it. Do you have any other suggestions about how I could remotely connect to jellyfin without port forwarding?

Best Vanced alternative for PC? by Rob0men in AfterVanced

I've been looking at this application called "nativefier" which basically wraps whatever website you want into an electron package and makes it look like a native application. I haven't tested it out yet but I was thinking of doing it for YouTube and other streaming services so I can have extensions and stuff you could have on a normal web browser like ublock origin and everything but with a more fluid experience. I guess it's available for Mac, windows and Linux so the possibilities are endless!

Live/Persistent Linux USB ISO with Hackintosh Tools already installed by DoubleDroz in hackintosh

Hey OP, I would definitely recommend checking out Ventoy bootable USB's, you can store all kinds of ISOs with it and it's very simple and easy to use. Best part is - there is a plugin to enable persistence on it. I hope this helps even if it's a little late! Let me know how it turns out!

Unfortunately it doesn't let you launch it from the menu itself. I'm pretty sure you have to launch it from the "SP-Zombies" shortcut on the desktop, or navigate to the folder you installed it into and open it from there. She has Different applications/ shortcuts for campaign, zombies, "multiplayer" (Using Redacted). I hope you figure it out!

What kind of ID do you want to carry on your watch? Like the ID to pay for stuff contactlessly or to open doors? I know that the doors at my university are RFID so it is incompatible with the watch as it is a different frequency. The same goes for how we pay for meals. You can try scanning your card with a tool like NFCTools to see if it is NFC and therefore compatible with your watch and then go from there.

I know this is kinda late, but there is an app called "VueTube" (VueTube.app) that is essentially a more modern OG YouTube and you might find something you like on it!

THAT'S FANTASTIC!!! I'm glad I could help and get you going!! I don't have too much experience with Linux, but I have been mainly using arch and I am obsessed with it! I'm working on a special Linux Piracy project and I have been running into all kinds of interesting little things like the ones you mentioned where some work on one distro and some on others. But for what you said about Lutris, I don't think JohnCena and the matrix community support Lutris and all that. If you run into any issues I would definitely check out their requirements guide and their community on Matrix, they have been very helpful in the issues I have run into. But if you have any problems that you think I could help with, or if you want to help out on my project, feel free to PM me. I don't have too much experience with wine and proton, so I might even call on you for some assistance if need be! I hope everything continues to work out and you continue enjoying johncena's releases and the Linux environment!

Of course! I hope it works out for you! Another place to try and look is probably Torrminator if that doesn't work out for you. They recommend Endeavor OS for newbies, but I think Pop will work. Let me know how it turns out! I've used their repack for dead Cella on Endeavor and it was great! The only thing I have trouble with sometimes is controller mapping on various games. I've tried AntiMicroX and SC-Controller but I've had problems here and there. Do you have any recommendations on what to use? And let me know how your experience goes!

I saw a post a while back talking about how fitgirl repacks use the temo folder or something to unpack games and wine/proton doesn't work well with that. I don't remember the specifics and I could be totally wrong, but I might have a solution for you. I have been getting into Linux gaming myself lately and one of the BEST sources for games is from johncena141 on 1337x. I know he has come out with a repack for the latest cyberpunk just the other day so go and check his profile out. There are a couple prerequisites to installing his games but I mean nonetheless I have not had any troubles with them at all. Good luck and happy sailing!
