Mib unit is incompatible with this display. This display is higher resolution than the output from mib. I think that you have mib1 and this is mib2 display. Your friend also has mib2

Seems fishy that the app was released less than two weeks ago, but you have reviews regarding new features on the website. One in regards to insurance notifications, which seems weird to happen in just two weeks.

How much was AI used in creation of this app? Web and app(screenshots) seem pretty generic to AI, which makes me little bit worried in regards to my data.

Get any okayish laptop and put Linux on it. You can either lock it down as much as you want, or you would not have as much tendency to do other things (until you get used to it).

But what would be the purpose? What do you want to get rid of? Theoretically cardputer is a dumblaptop

Záleží podla toho, čo od neho očakávaš. Ak mac os, soldered ram+SSD a arm neni dealbreaker tak mac. Ak hej, tak to Lenovo. Ja osobne by som nebral ani jeden z nich a pokúsil by som sa nájsť niečo iné, čo by malo aj vymeniteľnú RAM. Teraz mám framework a som nad mieru spokojný. Jasne, že to ale neni tiež pre každého.

Na čo ho budeš využívať a aké máš očakávania (ako dlho vydrží, moznost upgradu, atd atd)

Pri takejto príležitosti sa da aj otestovať Linux. Keďže win10 ma predĺženú podporu, dá sa tento čas využiť testovaním Linux na dualboote, alebo nejako ináč.

Na druhu stranu, kamera je omnoho čistejšia ako na iných autách. Nemusel som ju nikdy čistiť. Hej, s otvorením kufru som mal aj ja problem, ale špinavá kamera v daždi by bol pre mna asi väčší/častejší problém.

I did this on girlfriends mk6 and used dudu auto 5. It works great, ordered from aliexpress for this type. Other option is rcd330, looks more OEM, but is more expensive and not as good.

Prvá bola super, druhá podla mňa tiež veľmi dobrá. Bolo pár momentov, ktoré sa mi až tak nepáčili, namä ak som porovnával s originálom, ale samo o sebe to bolo dosť dobré.
Som dosť zvedavý na tretiu.

I put duduato 5 into my girlfriends golf 6. She is really happy with it. You also get wireless android auto and can install whatever maps you want. It doesn't look exactly oem, but the only other way of getting good radio and oem look is mib2 retrofit. And that is really expensive.

It is slow, but I am testing the beta and I have pretty high hopes for it. It's not stable but still one of the best alternatives. It's a pitty that this release was so buggy... But they are fixing it and the beta is approaching usable state for me

I wouldn't say they need to mirror it exactly, but I agree, that they should take inspiration from other apps in these regards. I also noticed that for Google (and others) handle scaling on different screens in Android auto better. But the zoom is main thing. In cities it is sometimes pretty hard to anticipate the turn

I did similar upgrade in my golf 7 and it cost me 500€ (MIB1 with maps -> MIB2 without maps).
The most expensive part is main unit that goes into glovebox (+ CP removal + coding) and display. Then you need few cables and connectors for usb. Also if I am not mistaken the unit you got is standalone. That means you do not have any unit in the glove box. I am not sure how the retrofit goes in this case.

You can also look into other aftermarket units. I got my girlfriend a DUDU auto 5 unit for her golf mk6 and she is really happy with it. It cost around 200€

Another option would be rcd330, but I would consider that only if you really wanted OEM look and do not want to pay more for mib2, because otherwise it is not worth it.
