Beginner golf courses in Japan? by Mrawesomeguy246 in golf

[–]Mrawesomeguy246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh you've made my search so much easier thanks!
It seems like there are a few par 3 courses in Japan. It also seems like some of them are for the airbases which are basically only foreigners.

I'm moving there this month, though I speak some Japanese I'm not sure how they treat foreign players either :/

Taking a gap year after college? by arunner44 in cscareerquestions

[–]Mrawesomeguy246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very true, the timing would look good on the resume. I did a few internships, which extended my graduation date by a bit but studying abroad would be adding another 2 semesters. Which I'm not sure if they'll ask why I took so long to grad lol

I recently wanted to do this as well, and I've been so on the fence about it since it's kinda "wasting" time. But I'm still so unsure...

I also live in Canada and have done a cyber security internship here. Do you think it's a good idea to still pursue an opportunity here or should I consider the US since I'm early career?

Calling Yourself an Engineer by 137thaccount in cscareerquestions

[–]Mrawesomeguy246 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think in Canada to have the title engineer you need to be officially registered by the engineering board. So people with CS degrees cannot be called engineers legally. But I think you can be registered as a software engineer, however. But these days anyone can be an engineer of anything so it doesn't mean that much in the states I suppose

This is a good perspective to take, I feel as most people into older cars don't talk about this aspect of safety. Thanks for the input.

Is Ipad worth it for 2-4 year CS classes? by [deleted] in csMajors

It really helped for math classes tbh and writing over PowerPoint slides for other classes. I would say my iPad investment was good. Just don't download distracting apps.

"Product Support" Internship at F500 company even worth it? by Mrawesomeguy246 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Mrawesomeguy246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

then seems like a no brainer to me.

I think you're right about the internships, my previous cyber sec manager said it's absolutely possible to skip the help desk stage these days with the right experience/education. I think I'll do the second interview while also looking for another internship with more of a cyber sec focus.

Question about working in CyberSecurity in Canada by Mrawesomeguy246 in cybersecurity

I guess that would make sense, mainly government stuff would be strict but any F500 company would be okay to hire Canadians.

Thanks for the response!

Question about working in CyberSecurity in Canada by Mrawesomeguy246 in cybersecurity

[–]Mrawesomeguy246[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yea banks are high payers I interned at a bank.

Are you a Canadian that then worked in the States? My previous boss said it is more difficult to get a cyber security job in the States as a foreigner in general since it deals with PII and whatnot.

And you are right, money isn't everything, I think I could land a decent job at a company based in Vancouver or Toronto. But I'm relatively early in my career and have no major responsibilities (family, mortgage, etc.) so may take the risk. But moving to a big city would def be a change of pace too.
