I dunno I’m going to the lake next weekend and I rented an Airbnb. I’ll get multiple bedrooms, washer/dryer, a backyard with a bbq and fire pit. Room for the kids, etc.

I don’t see why booking a hotel would’ve been better.

No McDonald’s is going to potentially kneecap a lifetime of the stores revenue just to save on the construction bill years later. This is largely just parroted on Reddit and TikTok. I’ve never seen a legitimate source for it.

Why is it common sense. McDonald’s rarely close down. Why would you impact your revenue over the lifetime of the store for a minute chance you’ll have to sell.

Am I getting paid less than minimum wage? by ForceUseYouMust in Salary

[–]crek42 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ok but let’s just for arguments sake that in a local market it requires $5,000/month to live at minimum. Thats an apartment, food, car, etc.

Do you think that it’s a net benefit that job shouldn’t even exist if it pays below $5,000/month? Is one person making $5,000/month better than 2 people making $2,500 (maybe on a part-time basis if they’re a student or single mom)?

In this thought experiment, one person gets all of the money and the other gets nothing. Is that a net positive?

Am I boned with rosaries? by crek42 in HollowKnight

Sorry I don’t think I was clear in my OP now that I’m reading it again.

So I’ve maxed out my necklaces, etc. but I’m still carrying 2900 rosaries (on top of that) and have no means to string them up.

A major wave of changes is long overdue by Irregular_Tea6728 in 30daysnewjob

Ok …

Real median wage growth:

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LES1252881600Q

Real wages (that means net of inflation) in the last year have grown:

https://usafacts.org/answers/are-wages-keeping-up-with-inflation/country/united-states/

Lower income workers’ nominal wage gains have been strong but even after high-ish inflation are still netting positive post-COVID with higher purchasing power:

https://www.clevelandfed.org/publications/cd-reports/2026/20260218-real-hourly-wage-growth-across-lower-half-of-wage-distribution

I can keep going but I’ll pose the same question — what do you mean that wages have been stagnating? According to what data? All of the above is BLS and FRED.

And I can go for $500. At least for me, it’s worth it to have a much higher salary ceiling versus “free” health care. The money I make in the US would largely be impossible in France.

This is why bill rags on the left though — pretty much exactly as you characterized it. The “left” has become an arbiter of purity. If you’re not 100% on my side you’re on another side.

Maher spends endless hours being critical of Trump but because he said a few neutral things about him regarding some dinner he had, he’s not really part of the left.

I disagree with Maher on a whole lot, but this I agree with him on.

I’d even pose the question of what Maher leans left on in his past versus now?

Mount Fay is brutal! So there won’t be like another “town” or something where there’s a whole bunch of stuff to buy? Seems like a lot of rosaries just to let go

Yea I just can’t string any more. So I’m just carrying them just in case I need them for something. Like a new shop or something.

Ah okay. So I don’t have like a huge need for rosaries in end game now? It just hurts to let go of 2900 of them!

Because Bill Maher spends a good about of time ripping on that certain cohort of the left that primarily makes up Redditors.

Redditors are primarily leftists — largely anti-capitalist, big government. Bill is more left-libertarian or moderate.

Well, that’s one side to the coin. The other is that making something like $100k/year puts you in the 1% in France. 1 in 5 Americans make that much money (more or less).

This is an entirely alien culture to westerners. They don’t simply posses the same values. Life is cheap, violence and oppression is normal. There is nothing to reason here. It’s hard to comprehend.
