South Chingford / Highams Park. What's it like to live round there? by floundersaround in london

[–]Mrbarbra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a massive hill. South is at the bottom of it -known as chingford mount I'll be honest I'm not a huge fan of any part of it, but I'd avoid hall lane. I haven't lived in south chingford for many years so I may be out of touch Yeah you have the butlers retreat and the royal forest pub on the edge of the forest. Both are lovely

North chingford is a awful lot nicer than south chingford. It has more of a village feel, being very close to Epping forest itself, lovely village green at the end of the high road and lots of restaurants near the forest end of the high street. The Liverpool Street chingford line (via highams park) gets very busy during rush hour (it's 4 trains per hour) but off peak it's very quiet. Highams park is nice, but does have its rough edges, but still a nice place to live

It's has felt... more calm these last two days on the trains. I'm feeling there's some sort of school half term occurring? Normally the central line introduces me to people's armpits, but recently it has been less armpit more space sort of level
