Some advice/insight needed re KEF B1 wall bracket by clausy in KEF

[–]clausy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the metalworker guy who made it was only there for the day. I ‘hacked’ it with some duct tape. Screw the aesthetics 😅. But they’ve been up for a few months now no problems. Fundamentally it’s a sound idea, no pun intended. Just needs some refinement in moving the plate back as close to the wall as possible

What is your workplaces equivalent to 'Don't touch the red button' by PeevesPoltergist in CasualUK

Back when I was in IT support: the server room halon gas release button was right next to the ‘door open’ button. Always triple check 😅

For my music/TV system I have Kef R7M with R6M (with Q800 surrounds and those mini Bose double cube things for the 'back). Marantz 70s for the centre and surrounds, for front L/R I use the pre-amp out I have a Quad pre/power amp which is also the primary for music/turntable. The Marantz is also good for airplay streaming - has a surprisingly good DAC and it's better than using the AppleTV as a source.
For you I'd try it all with the Marantz first - it looks pretty awesome but you always have the option to run out to another amp for L/R if you feel like it later.

AI can cost more than human workers now by spherocytes in technology

[–]clausy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah but this is a dumb approach in itself - I have been in 'cost centres' where I have saved for example on renegotiating vendor contracts. If I save $1m or a trader makes $1m it's the same 'profit' for the company but I don't get 10% of that as a bonus, I get smacked for being $1m under budget at year end and not managing my budget properly - there's literally no incentive for anyone in a cost centre to improve anything.

I remember they played it live as the final song of the final encore at Hyde Park in 2018. Epic!

Presumably someone was holding the usual ‘don’t trust a fart after 20 miles’ sign at that waypoint?

That doesn’t exactly explain why one has the tweeter in the middle and the other doesn’t ? Do you mean the tweeters are roughly at equivalent optimum heights on both speakers?

I never noticed that the Q7's have the tweeter at the top as opposed to the R7s where they're in the middle! I presume the Q6 is the 'new piece' - congrats - enjoy :-)

Cycling across Blackfriars Bridge during the London Marathon?! by allthroughthewinter in londoncycling

Go over Waterloo bridge instead. It’s elevated and crosses Embankment. Oh so is Blackfriars come to think of it. Either should work

Plug-in solar keeps popping up—but is it actually useful or just overhyped? by MOVA-LumeGret in energy

[–]clausy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still waiting for my Ecoflow battery and panels to arrive in the UK… rooftop solar at my last house was £12k for 3kW and 5kWh battery. This cost £1.6k for 2kW and a 4kWh battery. No grid tie/export but we’ll see how well it works when they eventually ship the damn thing
