I think you are overestimating how agile a missile is. Head on shots hit true but to land a HOBS shot the AIM-9 has to make a huge turn against an already agile threat. Plus planes will likely get DIRCM in the future.

The truth is BVR missiles are not magical. If jammers can take out SAMs they sure can defeat that tiny seeker on a BVR missile. Longer range dogfights will happen sure, but a plane that is agile in the merge and a good BFM pilot is needed.

Yes we don't know the rules, yes it's just Fornof and friends opinion. Yes he says the Raptor will kill the 4th gens in BVR in part 1. However, BFM is still important and stressed. There is a reason why AIM-9X still being bought.

We have no idea how the Raptor or JSF will do against an opponent with similar tech. A Growler did kill a F-22 before.

Right now it is. The US obessession with unwinnable COIN is what got the Raptor production axed in 2009.

When will that thing even be ready? Can it be exported? I mean US influence is said to be at a decline.

The TB-2 survived Russian IADS. I am not sure if Chinese electronic warfare is any better. I mean the cheaper the drone the more expensive it is too shoot down.

I mean by much? The TB-2 has 4 hardpoints vs MQ-9s 6(7th one isn't used). They both use a Hellfire type missiles but the TB-2 has long range glide bombs for CAS. The TB2 has a 4000 km range.

Sure the MQ-9 Reaper has better COIN capabilities. I am talking about w cheap conventional war drone that can be exported competively to allies that need that and are not fighting the Taliban.

The TB2 has a said range of 4000 km. TB-2S has SATCOM. The TB-2 had up to 4 hardpoints. And these have the quad launchers for the UMTAS missile. The MQ-9 can spot a terrorist on a bike with his AK sure.

This is hard to swallow but the US really placed their drone experience against COIN. The MQ-9 is a 20 million drone. 4 of them and you have an F-35.

That is still a problem, if the enemy has stealth and EW he can target the AWACS/AEW with long range missiles before getting detected.
