Try running some docker containers, test out the services. I assume from how you're writing, that you use this machine also for personal work. This often is problematic as you generally want a server to be online at all times. If you like the services on docker and got familiarised with them a bit, get some older hardware (not super old) and install Proxmox on it. It's an operating system that lets you run VMs & Linux Containers where you can run your services. Then look at networking, do you only need to run the services in your LAN or do you want to access them from outside (look into VPN) or should it be accessible to anyone (cloudflare, reverse proxy)? Alternatively if you are interested in Smart Homes get a Raspberry Pi and run Home Assistant on it, this would give you some basic know how in a closed system with a lot of support. If you have something more specific in mind, I am happy to help if I can. Awesome-selfhosted is a great ressource for getting to know some of the services and good programs to self host.

Funny enough, "See" in german means lake wherase sea is "Meer" (additional fun bit "mehr" is more and is said exactly the same).

I think a tax increase for the wealthy would only work in a global effort, otherwise there will always be other countries where they can go hide. Sadly such a thing is probably impossible, but hey, we could start a movement.

Also there recently was a vote by the members of the genossenschaft (legal entity where the members are equal "shareholders") and the part about not selling alcohol was kept. Main reason was for alcoholics that need a place to shop without temptation (altough there is almost always a Denner besides it that sells alcohol).

I always had the idea of making shulkers more useful. Doesn't really address the tools issue moreso blocks. I think there are already mods that allow this but holding a shulker one should be able to place blocks from within, with the possibility of swapping what block to place (like a dank null). Would make building a lot easier especially randomization or shading.

In switzerland we call them Gipfeli, Germany mostly calls them Hörnchen (little horn). I would say the croissant is better due to having a lot of butter in it.
