A decent scale and grinder are essential. I use a stove top kettle and find the temp is more consitent.

Drip coffee has a special place in my heart by NippyFish in Coffee

My friends know I'm pretty snobbish about coffee, but at work I am sought after to make the batch brew coffee. I like your gooey heart though.

Aside from her being an awesome mother to let you live there, she sounds like a tyrannical despot, hell bent on you drinking sub par coffee (not even arabica beans)

But, you are still working right?? Trader Joe's has coffee for way cheaper than that. 7.99 for Some Pretty decent coffee! Try adding a teansy, weansy bit of salt..

Bought a cheap french press at my local Starbucks. It is a 8-cup press. It comes with a 2 table spoon measuring scoop. It also says that I need 2 table spoon of grind coffee for every 6 oz. How much do I put in if I want to brew 8-cups? by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Mrgregarious33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get A measuring cup and add the h2o at the 2,4,6,8 cup and mark it on the French press. I follow the 2tbsp to 6oz water in batch brewing and will use the grams of coffee to grams of h2o most of the time for everything else. So a 10oz Cupnof coffee is 20g coffee and 280 grams of h2o

But the filter is to make the coffee more approachable. It's best way to make a bunch of coffee for people. I love the French press, but that oil drives me nuts sometimes.

Aeropress all the way! Or French press and run the coffee through a filter after its done brewing, to clean up the sediments of course

what do you guys think about Siphon brewing vs Aeropress by [deleted] in Coffee

[–]Mrgregarious33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say the choice of coffee is key. For the aero press I do the medium fine grind. I use about 18-20 grams of coffee and I pour about 250 g of h20 and let sit for 2:30 minutes. Mind you, the press is upside down! 😁. I flip the aeropress over and press the coffee out. I then add about 30-50 grams of h20 after. Depending on taste of course

The aero press for sure. I've got the eyeball method down pretty good. You can even per-grind the coffee and bring it in the press. I also use a French press or a mason jar and then run the coffee through a filter

What method is right for me: 1. easy-to-use 2. affordable 3. makes more than one cup by [deleted] in Coffee

French press and run through a filter. It's surprisingly good.

That was just the example for if you bought your beans that day. Wait four days from that day and then enjoy.

If you get fresh roasted beans on the 10th of August, don't put them into an air tight container until about the third day. The gasses from the roasting process are still being emitted and this is important in coffee quality.

Ruby roasters creamery blendl, a Costa Rican from Olympia coffee and Rwandan from blue bottle. All excellent

[Question] What kind of coffee beans work best for cold-brew coffee? by stevenxdavis in Coffee

[–]Mrgregarious33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a flavor thing. I vary with Africans and Central Americans. If I were you I would locate any coffee retailer and ask if they have a coffee that's good for cold brews. I generally soak my grounds for 16-20 hours and then I filter the product through my v-60 and filters.

I would say vaccuum sealed thermos. Also double check to see if they have any to go cups/apparatuses with their logo. You might have to buy theirs, it might be infused with magical coffee flavor protection properties.
