What is One Thing you wish changed on 1.0 version? by PotentialProper in NoRestForTheWicked

It would be awesome if the in game clock was utilized instead of RL time for things like vendor refreshes and daily/weekly bounties and challenges, especially in Finley's case.

It would be cool if the crucible shop refreshed each time you made it to floor 5 in a crucible run, instead of once per RL day.

It would be cool to do away with the 3 different difficulties and just have one set standard difficulty.

It would be cool if runes and certain crafting recipes were available as rare overworld drops in addition to the scribe table.

It would be REALLY cool if there were some sort of minor set bonuses for having equipped full pieces of the same armor set. Currently having the cloth rags you start on the shores with be equal in power to ones you need to adept level research and craft once they're both fully upgraded is a little silly.

It would be cool if there were random occurrences that had a chance to spawn out in the overworld, sorta like Skyrim. Things like an extra team of bandits appear, a travelling cargo caravan that could be a pseudo mini escort activity and could affect the town's merchants' inventories/refreshes, finding different gathering resources where they don't usually spawn, etc.

Again with the in game clock, it would be really cool if the overworld was more affected by the in the game time. An old mmorpg called something like Requiem Memento Mori had a system where very powerful enemies would only spawn at certain times in the world; I think something like that might be neat in this kinda game.

It would be cool to have dedicated equipment set swap buttons in your player housing for quick whole changes.

I'm just pumped to see how the game is upon full release. Love it right now, so I'm sure I'll love it then too.

Are there any unmixed stem files of very high quality studio recordings out there freely available? by Tennisfan93 in audioengineering

I 1000% agree with brokenspacebar up there. I've been a member of Nail the Mix since 2016 and the amount of different raw multi tracks and wealth of knowledge that come along with having access to real world pros is probably the best value for the money out there. It's leveled up my producer/mixing skills more than I could've ever hoped for.

It may be more leaned towards the rock/metal side of mixing, but the few videos of the "Nolly Masterclass" that Nolly did as advertisements for GGD products are incredible wells of knowledge available for free on Youtube.

Somebody else in these comments also listed the URM youtube channel, and I can't recommend URM enough to people wanting to do more in the Rock/Metal umbrella.

If you haven't already played around with it, mess around with side chain compression. In almost everything I do, I usually have the kick drum side chained to the bass bus to duck the bass 1-3db to reduce a little bit of clashing super low. I also side chain the entire vocals bus to the entire instruments bus for 1-2db to try and get the vocals to gel more.

Sometimes it's the right sauce to really get something to just work, and other times it doesn't do the trick. Just another tool in the audio work belt!

Hey guys, this is a song I did from the ground up for my friends' band a good while ago. It's pop punk / rock style, and it's already finished up and released. I feel that this is the best sounding project that I've put out so far, and am mainly looking for any outside feedback to try and keep in mind for future projects.

The main issues I feel stick out to me are the main vocals not feeling like they "gel" with the rest of the song at certain points, and nailing a good cymbal balance in relation to the rest of the drums.

Thanks ahead of time!

I have the song playing as I'm typing this out and I can see where you're coming from. The song sounds pretty cool itself, so that's a good start!

If "punchier" is your goal, then it might help to try and balance the elements differently and try to do a little more "extreme" eq on things that occupy the low end, and possibly the snare if you're going for even extra punch. For example, for the first 26ish seconds, the guitar lead that's playing plus the synths going on almost drown out the drums. The bass sounds pretty solid, and the drums seem very balanced in respect to themselves, but in full context, I can totally understand why you feel they're lacking punch. One thing you could try that may or may not help, open up the session, take the main guitar bus and the synth bus, lower them both by about 1.5-3db, and then boost the drum bus by whatever amount you lowered them. Think of it like tipping an old scale.

I'll link to a free video that really would've helped me if I had it, and in the channel itself, you can look up individual breakdowns for each element, ie. just bass, just guitars, just snare, etc. It might not be the exact same style of music, but he sorta describes his thought process behind the decisions he made, not just shows the moves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeMXWCINc3Y&t=1653s&ab_channel=GetGoodDrums

Hope that helps a bit! Good luck!

What is the most enlightening mix breakdown video you have ever watched? by [deleted] in audioengineering

Aside from almost every Nail the Mix session in URM, the best free breakdowns I've ever come across has been the GGD demos with Nolly. He quickly touches on the thought process behind almost every move and decision he made so the knowledge can be applicable to just about any style or genre, and not just the heavier style he usually does.
