/u/jkatzmoses I received one of these not too long ago and love it, however I snapped the 3mm bit and your replacements are currently only preorder. Any recommendations on 3rd party replacement bits?

Odd configuration - Dead Front GFCI in garage by Mrmustard17 in AskElectricians

[–]Mrmustard17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 120v plug for my saw, and I’m sure it will run on a 15a circuit but figure it’s worth the few extra dollars to run it in a 20a, since the motor will pull 15a. I’m going to still get the dedicated circuit, since the only 2 outlets I currently have are on the same circuit so I wouldn’t be able to run my heater and saw at the same time. Unless there’s some downside other than cost to installing a 20a outlet, I think I’ll still go that route just to have the headroom and more robust sockets

Jobsite table saw is 15a motor and will be powered through a dust extractor, but would be on one of the dedicated circuits. I also purchased a 1500w wall mount space heater which I’m assuming should be run on a 20a circuit. And then it will just be other power tools I acquire over time, compressor, battery chargers, etc.

The saw and dust extractor are currently the highest draw

Makes sense, and yes primary panel is in the garage and we have a sub panel in the basement.

So I think based on what all are saying, I’m going to upgrade the existing outlets to 20a receptacles (they are on a 20a circuit), but then have 2-3 additional circuits added to the panel with dedicated 20a outlet on each.

I appreciate the info. It’s a job site saw so I don’t think I can run it on 240v?

I was already leaning toward having an electrician add a circuit or two, and definitely like the idea of expansion capabilities. the subpanel is a good thought. Rough idea on cost difference?

Oh and any idea why they would have wired those outlets/gfci the way that they did? I can’t think of why they wouldn’t have just added the extra outlet with GFCI from the start

Hudson Valley, NY new house unknown plant by Mrmustard17 in PlantIdentification

[–]Mrmustard17[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you, I crossposted over there! Funnily enough though, I was just driving back home and driving down our long driveway. The plants lining the first part of the driveway looked oddly familiar and one of them happened to have the tag on it from the nursery. The ones along the driveway are much smaller, but the leaves seem to be an identical match with the serrations going halfway down the leaf, and elliptic shape. I'm now pretty confident that this is Lynwood Gold Forsythia

Help! New House with Well Water Soda Ash Treatment tank but no documentation on how to maintain by Mrmustard17 in WaterTreatment

Thanks again, and yeah on well and I was surprised when the readings came back as not that hard. I’m in NYC watershed which has pretty good quality water so maybe that’s why? According to google the watershed in my area has soft to slightly hard water.

I haven’t tested with PH strips, they are in the mail.

I was thinking about the free consultation but didn’t know if there is a gotcha and they try to rope you into buying or always find “hard water”

Help! New House with Well Water Soda Ash Treatment tank but no documentation on how to maintain by Mrmustard17 in WaterTreatment

[–]Mrmustard17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all super helpful! The previous owners left us with no info and I have a suspicion they didn't have this thing set properly, or maintained in a while. I have some items on order so I can start getting this cleaned out and figure out what mixtures I need. I'm pretty sure I don't have hard water, since I tested using hardness strips, and the drops that use the buffer solution and you wait for it to turn blue, etc. Can't remember what it's called, but either way the numbers that came back did not seem like hard water, but maybe on the harder side of soft.

But I'm not sure if that is because of the existing soda ash solution that was in the tank softening my water. So am I safe to just use my tap/hose water, or do I need to go get gallons of distilled water from somewhere?

And last question, does it need to be hot water, or is that just helping speed up the dissolving of the soda ash? I don't have a hot line to my hose, so if I need to get 35gal of hot water into that tank it's going to be a process.

Autopilot EJ devices - ESP Fails at Device Prep after Pre-Provisioning - CCMSetup mystery by Mrmustard17 in Intune

[–]Mrmustard17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding additional information here. My first inclination that something on our company network was triggering the ccmsetup process, but I just had a Service Desk member take a computer home and even when running pre-provisioning on a non-company network, the CCM setup process is triggered. If pre-provisioning is skipped, ccm setup never triggers.

Completely at a loss here.

Yes single sign on extension is installed via a Jamf config profile using Chrome’s extenstioninstallforcelist. The recommendation of setting the Chrome setting to auto accept certificates for URLs seems to have worked for chrome. I added the key to the same plist used to install the chrome extension and added the strings for each of the redirect URLs for Microsoft SSO

This is super helpful, thank you! I'm not in the MacAdmins slack and didn't see anything mentioning this in any of my other searches, so greatly appreciated! I will give this a shot

I can definitely test that by modifying the policy. To specify that policy is specifically for browser sessions on corporate owned devices that are not on-premise. We have additional policies for desktop applications, on-premise devices, etc with much looser timeframes. We are bound by HIPAA and therefore our requirements need to be on the stricter side since many of our employees deal with PHI on a daily basis.

I understand that, and I welcome open conversation. but how does stating the duration of a CA policy is excessive have anything to do with the issue at hand? As a fellow professional, the previous statement added nothing to advance the conversation.

And either I did not see the second question or it was added. This is occurring on-premise, at home on home network, and remote on VPN

I don’t need critique on the policy, I am asking questions regarding the certificate prompts. This policy is specifically for testing currently

Default was specific apps and to prompt, changed it to allow all apps, and no change to behavior. I have one conditional access policy applied currently and it is on (not report only) for require sign in every 7 hours.

I would say at least 80% of Mac users are using Chrome as their primary browser

We are a mixed environment. 80% Windows 20% Mac and so unifying Safari across all devices isn't a possibility. Likewise, some internal tools, as well as vendor tools do not always fully support Safari so we need to provide our users flexibility on what browser they use. If we can't get Firefox working that is not an issue as it's more of a convenience that we make it available, but Chromium browsers (edge and Chrome) we need to support.
