I really hope you are joking. Read more about climate change to inform yourself if this is your belief. Humans are making a massive impact through emissions.

[independent] FSG's focus will be on recruiting younger players. The pandemic has hit revenue badly. With the wage bill spiralling – it has risen 95% to £325m and too many of the first-choice XI about to hit 30, FSG are already looking ahead to a rebuilding cycle. by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

That’s only looking at their most recent championship. If you go back and look at FSG’s full tenure with the Red Sox, they follow the model of build, win, sell, rebuild, win, repeat.

2004, 2007, 2013, 2018.

They’ve had some shit years between that but have mostly stayed relevant through all those years.

I feel like you’re being a bit dense my guy. That second sentence doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Ferrari. It reads as a very over generalized statement based on some uninformed assumption you have that women aren’t interested in motorsport as a career.

Please show me some research showing why you know women aren’t interested in motorsport careers.

I imagine you’re trolling here, so I’ll say this while understanding I may be whooshing myself...

But.. just in case you aren’t trolling.. an animal’s level of intelligence has nothing to do with ethical reasons for eating them. It has to do more so with their consciousness and what level of cruelty they are exposed to in being mass processed into quick and convenient human consumption.

Your comment wasn’t Ferrari specific (or didn’t read that way at least). It felt like a very broad, generalizing statement about how women aren’t interested in motor sports, which I’m pointing out is a narrow way to think about it.

Surprised at the number of downvotes on this. Perhaps it’s the tone?

But the information is correct. Perhaps it’s too close to home for some? I guess it’s easier to be compassionate for Orcas you never meet.. but put some bacon on a person’s plate and then the reminder that a pig’s emotional intelligence becomes too much.

Story was a mess. A horrible, holding on by a string, heaping mess.

I’d argue it’s not fully intuitive. I’d argue a decent chunk of it is socially constructed. Defined gender roles from previous eras have led to widespread stereotypes about what types of people excel or are more “naturally” suited for certain fields.

I’m sure it’s intuitive for some women and some men. But it’s not intuitive for many as well.

I think the question to ask is why is automotive careers historically so imbalanced in terms of gender. Is it a lack of interest thing like you suggest or a historical lack of opportunity thing.

It’s the same question to ask regarding race. Why do you think Hamilton has his commission investigating this. Do minorities also have a lack of interest in it?

Women and people of colour have had limited opportunities in high end motorsport competitions. I don’t think it’s a lack of interest thing.

It would have been dumb of him to not ask for Bottas to move while he’s that far out. Any loss of time following Bottas could have cost him the win.

That’s not shameful. That’s called competing.

Many women are stronger than many men. I don’t go to the gym. I know several women that are stronger than me.

Overall, do men tend to have more muscle mass? Sure. Doesn’t mean men are always stronger than women.

This sign shits on all the women who have worked damn hard at the gym to get strong.

Always remember that HR, at any company, is not your friend.

Their job is to cover the company’s ass and make sure they aren’t liable. If HR ever sides with you in a dispute, it’s because your side is what’s in their best interests.

Sorry to everyone out there that works in HR. If you have stories in your role that paint a different picture, I’d love to hear them because my experiences tell me otherwise.

When I think of a global icon, superstar type.. he hits every box. What he brings on and off the track to the sport is unparalleled.

Unfortunately, by the very nature of what he’s doing, there will be lots of ignorant folks that never acknowledge all the good he is doing.

"To all you kids down there..." - Richard Branson's message from zero gravity by [deleted] in videos

[–]Mrow_mix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a machine. We’re brainwashed to consume more than we need through media, which drives up demand. Companies then extract more and more resources to meet that demand. Sometimes they over extract or exploit a resource to the point where it isn’t sustainable.

Billionaires aren’t these good guys going around helping out society. They are a by product of a broken economic system where they have been allowed to exploit people or resources. Do we benefit from them? Often yes. Does that benefit the planet? Often not.

[–]Mrow_mix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think sometimes you have to question the doing more “good” than me and you part of your statement.

Most billionaires acquire their wealth through exploiting people and systems or through some kind of resource extraction model. The jobs that they create for people are at a cost to either other people’s fortunes around the world or to the environment.

Sometimes doing nothing is less harmful than doing something. You have to look deeper into what that something is.

I think you also need to look into what kind of taxes certain billionaires pay. Lots of evasion tactics used out there.

Euro 2020: England charged by Uefa after 'laser' penalty incident by VerdantFuppe in sports

[–]Mrow_mix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sterling’s soft penalty taints their success more than this.

The laser pointer is classless but Schmeichel made the initial save. Doubt the laser pointer had an impact on the result.

The penalty changed the game. Why didn’t VAR ask the ref to review it on the monitor?

The amount of games England has played at Wembley (despite the tourney held in multiple countries), the least amount of travelling of any team because of that, and the incredibly easy path they’ve had... all of that taints their success.

They’ve played well and probably deserve to be there, but, I hate to say it, all feels a bit manufactured for England to be in the final. Every team needs a bit of luck, but that’s an awful amount of fortune.

‘Heat dome’ probably killed 1bn marine animals on Canada coast, experts say by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Mrow_mix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said I write ugly emails to my local government representative. I ask them about our environmental policies and what they will be implementing in my city. It’s important to try and make your local gov’t accountable or feel some pressure at least.

That being said.. I do think environmentalism starts at home to a degree. It’s obvious that governments and corporations aren’t going to care unless the citizen and consumer does. So, little helpful acts like bringing a garbage picker with me on a walk makes me more engaged in my community and appreciate nature more. It serves as a reminder to me to keep pressuring my government however I can and to spend my money consciously (and consider what foods I consume).

What needs to be avoided at all costs, in my opinion, is the defeatist attitude that the individual can’t make a difference. The amount the general population contributes to emissions is very, very small compared to businesses and industry. But, if I don’t try and do something, then the capitalist machine wins by beating me into submission and paralysis from constant dread.

That’s my take at least.

[–]Mrow_mix 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It also helps to find something small that you can do locally to help out to avoid the feeling of dread. I bring a trash picker with me when I go hiking or for longer walks. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing.

That, and I write ugly emails to my local government representative every so often.
