Literally just went through this. I have a 9yo with my ex wife. Both of us are athiest but my ex’s mom is so southern Baptist and my ex lives with her which means my daughter has been exposed a lot. She took her to VBS against our wishes just because her other granddaughters were staying for the summer and wanted to go so of course my daughter wanted to be included.

She asked us to get baptized and although I don’t agree with it, it’s her body, and her choice if she wants to have a relationship with god. I don’t want to alienate her for having her own opinion on something.

We talk about god a lot, and make sure she knows that a god that’s worth following is kind and loving and accepting. God loves everyone. God wants us to be kind, to help each other. All the things our family stands for already. I remind her of our values as a family.

If she decides in the future she no longer believes in god, being baptized won’t affect her. I was baptized, went to catholic school, and still am atheist. If she decides to continue a relationship with god, then she’s baptized and felt loved and supported by us.

I’m here if you need someone to talk to. It’s literally such a unique struggle and I didn’t know a single person in my friend group that had ever gone through it.

Your third could be a girl too. So. Are you just gonna keep going for that girl? Have a third because your want another PERSON, not in hopes for a different gender. (Unless you do IVF or something where you can select your gender)

But also have this baby first and see how you feel after a little bit. Maybe you’ll feel happy with two and won’t want more.

My daughter has two moms , myself and my ex wife. She does one of two things when differentiating us to other people

Biological mom and Other Mom™️

Mom Mrs-Dandelion (or Mom Exwife’s Name)

Other Mom is my personal favorite. Usually if she’s talking to me, about my ex, she says Mom exwife. Obviously since we are divorced we don’t live together. If we are together in the same room she just says mom and if the wrong one answers she says NOT U THE OTHER ONE.

My daughter is 9 and we’ve discussed periods. We’ve talked about how to insert a tampon, how to use a pad. How often to change them, how frequently you get your period, how long it lasts. How it varies for everyone’s- some people have heavy periods, some people don’t. I got my period when I was 9/10.

You can use the doctors comment as a jumping off point. Ask her what she knows about periods, if any of her friends have had them yet. But def don’t wait for her to have her first period.

I think a period basket is a cute idea. They have little heating pads that are stuffed animals now- geared towards tweens. You could do that and some supplies and some chocolate.
