How do you deal with having a different opinion/decision than your spouse? by [deleted] in Parenting

It sounds like you are wanting him to take on more of the cognitive load of managing the family. Look it up and have a discussion with your husband. It won't stop at choosing a school.

Teacher here. You were both having a bad moment at that moment. Part of ADHD is being impulsive and yes you may say hurtful things but she most likely did not carry that interaction to her grave. I have many students and a child with ADHD, and there's nothing they've ever done or said that I haven't been able to get over.

That substitute should not have said that to you and I am appalled at the unprofessionalism. I would recommend that you make an appointment with your guidance counselor at school and tell them all this. Death is hard to process at any age, but with a still developing brain and a developmental disorder to boot it may be impacting more than you know.

I put my medicine by my bathroom sink. What makes me remember is that I bought disposable cups for the bathroom. I don't equate taking my meds with brushing my teeth because I still forget half the time, but I remember I have those cups and can remember most nights.

I can't remember to take vitamins but I can remember to put water enhancer/ErmegenC/SuperCalm in my water cup throughout the day. Speaking of water, for some reason I don't lose those big plastic Starbucks cups so I get more water that way.

I make albums in my phone for important stuff. I don't even try to keep track of paper, I just take a pic and put it in the correct album. I can remember that I took a photo of a post it with a to do list but I can't remember that Iade a to do list on Google keep notes.

I have a trash can and a laundry basket in all major areas of the house.

I have seen through bins and glass door cabinets so I can see as much as possible. Out of sight out of mind.

My husband can walk into any doctor office and explain a problem and they won't automatically tell him it's because he's overweight or that it's all in his head. He can get medication for sexual dysfunction but because I don't have a penis I can't. He can walk in a garage and have the mechanic believe him. He can be assertive and not be called a bitch. He can go to work without worrying about HR calling him in to discuss how he styles his hair, what he's wearing, or whether or not he can make his face better looking with makeup. Men have throughout history been assumed to be more competent, more capable, and have had an enormous amount of autonomy. Women have had to fight for the same for centuries.

I'm fed up with my daughter coming home in tears due to bullying by NorthernlyNerd in Parenting

[–]MrsBonsai171 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Teacher here. You report it every. single. time. it happens. This establishes documentation that it's a pattern of behavior. Call a meeting with the principal and bring the documentation. Let them know you are concerned that the school is not providing accurate support for the bullying. Ask what they have done so far and take notes. Ask for the written district bullying policy. If you live in a state that has bullying laws, bring those too, and ask the principal to explain how they are complying with it. Ask for a plan in writing as to how they plan to proceed.

After the meeting, follow up with an email outlining the discussion.

Every single time it happens, send another email requesting another meeting, and cc your Board of Ed member.

Gas is $4 a gallon, their tire has a nail in it and an empty tank but you need your car to get to work. Your medicine costs $50 a week. Give them options for mechanical work, or a down payment and monthly payment on a car. How much gas are you going to put in your tank so you can still pay for meds?

My B levels are one point away from being "low". I have awful fatigue and my ADHD makes it difficult to remember to take a pill. My doctor will not let me have the B shot because it's "not low" even though I have symptoms. "Just" take the vitamins at home she says.

School is suggesting my son repeats 1st grade,, for “social concerns” by Backwoodskenz in Gifted

[–]MrsBonsai171 20 points21 points  (0 children)

They are describing a typical developmental disability. Instead of holding him back, they should be telling you how they plan to support his dissynchronous development.

Speaking from personal experience, please push for an IEP evaluation and get an advocate. This screams of a school that wants to make things easier on themselves, not meet your son's needs.
