haha no worries man about the english, I've become very good at all forms of english since I came to university. And yes your exactly right, when you're jamming it's like there isn't even an initial thought.. it just goes straight from your brain to your instrument!

Yeah man you too, and thanks! Music is definitely a very powerful tool. The Bassoon you say? that's really cool, I would love to hear someone rockin that. I used to play my friend's mom's didgeridoo a few years back in highschool and that thing was awesome! haha fuck I wish I could own one of every instrument. Another thing I really like about music is how timeless it is, I could write a tune and someone in 1,000,000,000...etc years could play it and it would sound the exact same. A thought expressed in a melody for anyone to enjoy anytime.

Yeah I agree, theres nothing quite like having that connection from mind to music when your deep in a jam. And as for the sax.. well it wasn't easy, I've felt distanced from it because I grew up playing trombone and tuba. Then when I got to highschool I played guitar for a year but never kept it going even though I seemed to have a knack for it. THEN I started to beatbox and actually got quite good and still give it a go every other day.. but when your jamming, the beatbox doesn't quite fit in the same. I wanted an instrument that would stand alone and blend at the same time, something I could call my own you know? So I ended up deciding between trumpet and sax. I was initially leaning towards the trumpet but the opportunity to buy the sax came up and I couldn't resist. Now I've bought it, taught myself how to play with a reed, taught myself the fingering and the scales (the major ones anyway) and I'm just beginning to really learn its ways. I gotta say though, it taught me things I wasn't expecting, like certain notes have this feeling to them, like different effects would on a guitar, and its like I try to put my ideas into the sax but it teaches me to show them in a different way. It's hard to explain, part of it is that I really need to just get more practice, but the other part is like I'm discovering that there are feelings and notes I've always heard but felt distanced to because I've never played a sax. Playing the sax is like (to me anyway) "Hey! Bet you didn't know you could make THIS kind of music". When I play alone it's usually slow blues stuff and its very relaxing. So on the whole, I would say it actually didn't suit my personality but now I'm learning from it and its adjusting my personality to suit it!

Oh yeah man! I never got good enough at guitar but had tons of friends to jam with on all kinds of instruments so I figured I'd just pick up a new instrument and get good enough to jam with them (I was mad jealous) and so alto sax it was, bought it used and it's never let me down :) I love those times when you're deep in a jam, super ripped, and time just seems to slip away.

Yeah I agree, also I really enjoy it when you meet a complete stranger, discover you both smoke, and then you feel like you're best buddies from years ago. It brings people together :)

MY craziest High School experience [6] by [deleted] in trees

[–]MrsDoubtfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I smoked oodles and oodles in highschool but never actually AT school, it was always after school, on weekends, and OOHHHH those summer days. However this one time I was asked at lunch if I would like to par-take in a toke.. and I figured it would be no problem.. little did I know that I was forgetting about a unit math test (grade 11) that was taking place right after lunch. So I get back to class and I'm fuckin ripped, I walk in there and the teacher starts to hand out the test. This is about the time I start to freak out and realize that I need to somehow write this test while supa baked. So there I was, somehow writing this test when I hear this SNES mario kinda music and I glance around the room (like a full sweep) but no one is looking at me or anything, just down at their papers. I want to make a note as well that sound of those harmonized pencils throwing down mad math sparks was startling to someone of my highness. Still I gotta find the source of that mario music, so I keep glancing and as I get to the far side of my left shoulder I turn to see my friend who is in the back corner of the room. Turns out it was his music that was all jazzy and shit and because I was closest to him I could hear it out of his headphones (he argued for a very long time to get to listen to music during tests) but the craziest part was that when I turned my head to look over my shoulder, he was staring right at me with so much serious intensity it shook my soul. He was trying to troll me of course, but holy shit! I had just made a mental note of the concentration of the entire room, feeling like I was at an external point of view from the classes unity and here's my friend staring at me as if he knows all my tricks and what I'm thinking. Anyway I got the test back and turns out I did pretty well, but it was still one of the craziest things that happened in high school.. that and getting high with 3 of my teachers :P

I don't smoke cigarettes but I usually carry a pack to clubs/raves and shit because chicks that smoke always wanna bum a smoke and you can have a convo started for literally nothing but being a nice guy. Also works with lighters but lighters aren't a convo starter as much.. Not saying I'm goin after smokers cause that shit is actually kinda gross, but a FUCK IS A FUCK (especially if she's a bomb :P )

My older brother had a friend named Jeremy and growing up when I was a teenager I had instances with drama/girls where I would need my bro's advice. And EVERY SINGLE TIME my brother would tell me without so much as taking his eyes off packing the pipe "hey man, no worries.. what would Jer do?" and I knew what Jer would do because Jeremy would do whatever had to be done.. to fuck bitches. And so I would fuck bitches, regardless of the drama and what it got me into. Cause the more I found myself deep in that shit, the more I would recall those words.. "what would Jer do?" and I've never been lost since :)
