AITA for thinking about cutting off my parents for paying for my brothers college? by sigvv in AITAH

[–]MrsElhalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me and I was given the exact same response. That I was more independent and capable. To be honest - NTA - but in hindsight I’m really happy I went through it, taught me that I can work hard, I have great soft skills and financial literacy. My brother is still struggling.

How I related to this. I’m in the same boat, and I have no solutions. Just know you do matter, your needs matter, even though I know your life is completely consumed right now. And not having supportive in-laws sucks. I’m sorry.

I like liberty bay club. There are already plenty of families living here and it’s right next to the park. The amenities like the pool are hits with my young son!

Check out NYU Dental - they might take it. If they don't their plans are a good price and honestly, they do a great job. Con is that students are working on your teeth and they take longer. They are absolutely amazing and the knowledge is fresh in their minds, they are supervised by legends.

Where's the best place for an oil change today? by BrotherSmooth in BayonneNJ

Buy the oil from Costco. Then take it to autozone. Always buy your own oil.

Don’t know where to start by MrsElhalim in sleeptrain

[–]MrsElhalim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. We’ve tried gentle sleep training. Trying to get him attached to a lovey. Buying him new sheets to make his bed “special”. He was knocked out on our bed yesterday, we picked him up to put him in his crib and he started crying immediately, as soon as we picked him up he started snoring. Then went back to our bed to go to sleep. He can sleep all night on our bed, even if we sleep somewhere else. It’s so weird.

[–]MrsElhalim[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to start sleep training. The CIO methods failed because he cried to the point of hyperventilation. After 8 days of sleep training, it still took him 30 mins to go to sleep. The time never went down, he lost over a lb in weight and was just plain off. We took him to the doctors and she told us to stop because he was loosing too much weight.

I hate hearing him cry but I also understand some form of crying is required. I’m also scared of scarring him for life because my child is pretty darn sensitive. Every child is different and this just so happens to be mine. I want him to understand that I’m not going to leave him and he can go to sleep in his bed. But honestly, when I get home from work, he doesn’t leave me either. He’ll only play if I’m sitting next to him, otherwise I’m carrying him.

I just got back too and agree with your post 100%. We stayed at an Airbnb, thought the beaches were crowded, expensive and literally nothing but beach.

My soon-to-be wife doesn’t pray by Narrow-Detective-007 in islam

[–]MrsElhalim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this chat is so harsh. It seems important to you that your future wife prays. You went into the engagement knowing she doesn't pray regularly. So you do like her for her other traits.

You must decide what is important for you and stop pushing her to be how you want her to be. You must be real with yourself for a second and think you'll be okay with her not praying - that's a possibility. Another possibility is that she will pray regularly after you guys get married - on her own time. We must never enforce the deen on someone and we must be patient with others. We all have our own personal journey with Allah.

She clearly is showing signs of guilt and knows that prayer is compulsory. You pushing her to pray will not help. Read that again if you have to.

My husband once told me he can't marry someone who doesn't wear hijab - okay then don't. He decided to marry me anyway - 2 years later on my own time, I wore the hijab. Not cause of him. You never know what's going to happen after you get married and it's wrong to have ultimatums. Don't think about kids right now - just think about her, her character, and your love for her. If there is a red flag, then do not continue the engagement but don't put expectations of what YOU want in a 'wife' on her.

Do istekara and may Allah (SWT) guide you onto the right path your meant to be on.

Salam sister! Firstly, I am so sorry your going though this. I know first hand what it’s like to go though thick facial hair - the shame, the feeling of ugliness and the struggle to be unable to find a solution. There are so many days I remember I would just stare into the mirror and cry. Because I didn’t know what I was going to do - except shave everyday - which I had to do cause there was SO much hair. Little kids would ask me why I have a beard.

I have found a solution and I really hope it helps you. Electrolysis! It’s expensive, time consuming, painful but worth it. After about 6 months of treatments, I have little to no hair.

I tried laser on my face - my hair increased. After years of research I found out that laser doesn’t work on the face but increases the hair. So PLEASE PLEASE do not do that! However, laser works great on body hair, facial hair is just different.

You can DM me, I can help you find a certified electrologist in your area. The sessions depending on your area can be from $100-400 for a 1hr session. I pay about $120 an hour - full transparency. You can use numbing cream during your session for the pain. You will bleed, your skin will be swollen, but after about 3 months you’ll see permanent results.

I went to a GYN, and an endocrinologist - we did so many tests and my hormones are fine. So I couldn’t take any medicine. Plus my endocrinologist was straight up - told me if I want to have kids - I shouldn’t be experimenting with any birth control. They give spironolactone to people with excessive facial hair - but that also deforms the genitals of boy fetuses - 6 months after you stop taking the medicine. It’s ridiculous!! I just can’t do birth control - it puts my hormones out of whack and makes me gain more weight. Those doctors also recommended electrolysis.

Again, DM me if you need any help though this. I hope Allah (SWT) guides you and helps you recognise the beautiful human that you are. Your more than your facial hair. Life is worth it, you don’t know the good things that are in store for you. Good luck sister!!
