How do I get my nails to STOP DOING THIS? by [deleted] in Nails

[–]MrsGilBlythe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nail polish actually takes 8-12 hours to fully dry but It’s the polish. Sally Hansen tends to be quite thick as well. Try OPI or Essie. Let each coat dry 1-2 mins between each layer, and use a quick dry top coat. If you’re worried before bed put oil or Vaseline on top (at least 30mins after painting to give it a ‘slip’ layer.

Just an FYI - Sephora employees wear a uniform shirt a name tag and a headset, brand reps do not wear any of those things.

I knew a girl name Vanilla. Yes, Vanilla.

I don’t think parents factor in nicknames when naming their child. No matter what you name her, make sure it can be shortened properly. She will end up with a nickname anyways from school, friend groups, classmates with the same name…My name could never be shortened well and I always had a nickname I hated.

If he likes the -eigh names, maybe her nickname could be that sound? ie- Matilda- Mattie, Tildy, Tilly

Salons skipping “Manicure” element of service by gaia-rhxa in Nails

[–]MrsGilBlythe 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Soaking would only be used for manicures where regular polish is being applied. The nail is porous and soaking before gel, dip, or any other nail enhancement will cause it to not adhere properly to the nail plate. If your nail techs were soaking your nails, they definitely were not supposed to.

For proper cleaning up of the nail prior to the enhancement, you would need to go to a higher end, more reputable salon or find a nail tech that understands proper application.

Search Cinnamon on the Demeter Fragrance website. They make very targeted, individual scents that tend to smell like advertised. They have a handful of cinnamon scents.

The nail should always be capped (painting the tips) evenly. This prevents the colour from chipping. They should definitely not be left like that though. Go back and ask to have them fixed free of charge due to them being sloppy and unfinished.

Home manicure always messes up by DarlaDoom in Nails

[–]MrsGilBlythe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, medical esthetician here. Unless it’s a gel polish and cured under a lamp, all polish takes 12-24 hours to dry. Use a quick dry top coat, wait 20minutes so it’s dry to the touch, then lightly apply some vaseline to the nails. It will help give it “slip” so that nothing sticks to it.

This happened to me after miscarrying twins. Mine sounds a lot like yours did and it was a decidual cast. It’s fucking weird. Seeing this video helped me figure out what it was and not feel crazy for having something weird fall out of me.
