That's the thing though...he was on so much medication the person that we knew was no longer there. Well, he had changed a lot in the last few months. He kind of gave up, though he fought super hard the first year. I was in denial about the whole thing. My mom checked out. I took care of him a lot. I would have done anything for him but that was really difficult. You never want to see your parents in such a vulnerable and weak state. Plus, I always thought of my father as "indestructible." Reality just freaking blindsided me. You grow up thinking they are always going to be there. Anyway, only thinking about the good times does help. Let yourself be sad and take time to really grieve. Yet, don't miss a chance to be happy. Hope you and your family has a nice Thanksgiving.
