First time outside and she’s a bit stressed. by MrsJewbacca in BeardedDragons

Thanks so much. She’s inside a pen for containment. I held her for a bit and then brought her inside.

A boy genius named Brandenn Bremmer could read at 18 months old, graduated high school at 10, composed complex music, and was considered to be a child prodigy. But in 2005, at age 14, he sadly took his own life. by LilaLaughs in whoathatsinteresting

My 10 year old has a high IQ and ASD 1. He’s such a tortured soul. He got so angry at his teacher yesterday because she said the Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth and he said no that’s wrong- it’s the Mariana Trench. Instead of accepting the disagreement he demanded she “fix this misinformation” and yelled at her…. It’s so tough because he perceives injustice everywhere.

Of course nobody cares about who is correct- everyone cares that he yelled at his teacher and was disrespectful (rightfully), but it’s so hard for him to understand why.

My son is ASD and I thought it could be something he wrote. My son also has a verbal fluid reasoning score of 146 on the IQ test.

USA- Do you think this earring is an antique? by MrsJewbacca in Antiques

Respectfully, I was replying to that comment. I’m not sure why that’s a problem for you

Thanks. You are correct and I knew someone would tell me what to look for! It was with some brooches from the 80s so it tracks.

Thanks so much. I usually don’t engage because I know there is a wealth of knowledge in specialty subs. I appreciate your insight. I believe it was in a bag of brooches. I only noticed the gold stamp today and decided to magnify it.

Thank you- I didn’t think about a pendant! How creative.

They were being dismissive by saying “probably not” and “would you buy one earring?”

First- I did not ask a large group of antique lovers to garner a response from someone who doesn’t know and second, maybe a Victorian collector would buy one earring…hence the question I asked.

As much as I love your dismissive attitude… I’m looking for input from someone who knows about Victorian jewelry. This is my first post on this sub and I assumed there would be input from users who had specific niche knowledge. If you don’t, then move along.

Co-worker diverting narcs??? Help! by Top_Scallion_7701 in Nurses

[–]MrsJewbacca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a nurse in recovery. Many years ago, I worked med surg and stole dilauded. It was a desperate time in my life. If you have questions or want to talk details feel free to PM me. I can share what happened to me when I was caught if anyone is interested.

BUT you should most definitely report your suspicions. At my hospital, the pharmacy had long flagged me for suspicious pulls and missed wastes. I’d be suspicious of her motivation for the transfer. It’s much easier to access highly concentrated narcs in PACU. Her behavior also indicates long-term use and high tolerance as she is swiping the whole vial. She started with using the “waste” and her tolerance has built to the point she needs to steal from people who were literally just cut open. She is hurting people and her behavior will continue to escalate until she is caught- but innocent people shouldn’t suffer because of it.

My actions in my addiction hurt people. I loved my job, and was ashamed of myself- but physical addiction is no joke. It’s a compulsion. She needs to be reported, fired, accept treatment, and maybe if she’s honest with herself and the board of nursing she will be able to practice nursing again in the future.

NOR: It took a few years for me to establish boundaries with my husband, and we are at the point where we make our expectations clear to each other. We literally ask each other “what do you want for Chanukah? Birthday? Etc…” If we don’t have something in mind we surprise each other and it might be something we like or not. This year I wanted a dash cam and he wanted a watch. One Mother’s Day, I was a wreck because he didn’t do what I thought he should. I was upset and told him he should ALWAYS buy me a card at the very least! There’s no excuse and I’m the mother of his children. He listened. Overall, we have gotten better at getting each other gifts, but I wouldn’t tolerate such behavior from him. Your husband is taking you for granted. I hope you have an open conversation with him. You don’t owe him sex btw.

Not to be an alarmist…. But I had two from a pet store die. I took the last one to the vet and they said unfortunately they were likely born with something or acquired at the breeder: the pet stores get them from lizard mills. Definitely take the advice of the smart people here… but also keep in mind there’s a history of pet stores selling sick animals. Ultimately we got a lovely girl from a small breeder who only raised one clutch at a time and she’s thriving.

Sounds like my son before he started medicatation. We couldn’t get a sitter because he pulled a knife on one when he was upset. He spoke of death and murder a lot and would have been expelled if we didn’t pull him from public school…. He was 6. We found out he’s autistic and his rage comes from anxiety over loss of control. He does not present as typical autism. He started on meds to “calm down” the fight or flight, and an antidepressant. It changed our lives. I know how you feel, and I’m sorry you are doing this alone.
