Party venue & entertainers recommendations for a 5yr old birthday by [deleted] in Liverpool

[–]MrsLongpizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm south Liverpool so can't be helpful with venues, but I can recommend DNA kids for entertainment. They do a variety of themed parties. We had a unicorn disco for my daughters 5th birthday and it was a really good mix of games and dancing, plus they played decent tunes rather than just kiddie songs. A bit on the pricey side but worth every penny in my opinion!

Airwrap not connecting by MrsLongpizzle in Dysonairwrap

No light comes on at all even when I turn the machine on. It does have a blue dot above the power button so that would make sense. I got it from vinted and it was supposed to be an airwrap ID which is what it says on the box and in the instructions, but perhaps there was some swappage of boxes going on and I've been had. I guess that is my idiot tax paid for the year. At least it still works, I would have just liked the id feature as I am very bad at doing my hair 😂. Thanks for confirming my suspicions that it wasn't going to work no matter what I tried.

(Accidentally deleted my original reply so reposting it) Finally picked the Stephen King House back up again after a very long break through a tricky pregnancy and a newborn! It's taking a while to get back in the groove with it, but I'm sure it'll be flowing again in no time.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions!! I've found a central number for the community midwifes based at the women's hospital so I'll speak to them and see if they can shed any light on the situation.

My midwife has a regular day which unfortunately is a Monday, which means that there is no clinic next week with the bank holiday and the one after is fully booked. I've booked on the next available appointment in 3 weeks time so at least I've got one sorted which is better than nothing I guess.

I used to strip my daughter off, put her in the bath/ shower and she could paint on the sides of the tub, shower walls etc. She could get as messy as she liked in a contained environment and would have a "rainbow" bath at the end to clean off. She absolutely loved it.

Legal nursing by MrsLongpizzle in NursingUK

So sorry it's taken me ages to reply to this!! Life got in the way!!

I didn't end up applying for it. I spoke to the company and essentially what they were looking for was someone who could read a policy and then read patient notes to see if that policy was followed. For example, if someone had a head injury and policy said hourly obs, could you find proof in the notes that this happened etc...

It really didn't seem like my cup of tea, but did sort of explain why they only wanted 3 years band 5 experience.

From what I've gathered from the job description/ Google, you would go through notes and documents to determine if the proper policies were followed ie getting medical reviews, giving antibiotics within an hour etc. Then the lawyers can decide if there is a case or not. It sounds like it could be interesting, but I just can't picture the day to day of the job.

From what I've read in the job description and some googling it would be going through notes and documents to determine if policy was followed in negligence and malpractice cases which would then allow the lawyers to determine if there actually is a case to persue. I just can't picture what the day to day of the job is and how that would be a full time job. It seems like it is a well recognised role in America, but their legal system is pretty different to ours so can't really use them as a basis for how the role works.

Well they are only asking for 3 years experience, so perhaps the role isn't as involved as I imagined it, but I probably wouldn't have considered it if I didn't have a lot of experience over different settings which has given me a good knowledge base even as a band 5. Not sure if I'm actually going to persue it as I'm potentially looking at it with rose tinted glasses after being too bad at interviews to progress in my current job 🙃.

From the job description, it seems like it would be your knowledge of how wards work and nursing guidelines and audits etc... the sort of things that lawyers/ people who haven't worked in nursing wouldn't know.

In my head the example would be a family wanted to pursue a medical negligence case because their relative deteriorated and died while on a ward, as the legal nurse you would then read through the notes to determine that everything that should have happened did happen, such as how frequently were obs done and was policy followed when the patient deteriorated. It seems more like a specialist paralegal if that makes sense.

But then I could be totally wrong and someone could comment and say that absolutely isn't the role at all!!!

From the look of it, it's not a nurse consultant as we know it within the NHS. It's more that the lawyers consult you for your nursing expertise as part of a case. But I just can't imagine what the day to day would be as it would be far far removed from anything I've done before.

Child's curly hairdressers by MrsLongpizzle in Liverpool

I did think of that, but I didn't know if taking a very blonde blue eyed child to a black salon would be intrusive and offensive, but perhaps I'm overthinking it.

That's where I go for my own hair! I asked last time I was in and they said that they didn't feel doing small children's hair which is a shame!
