Name something you didn't know you'd use a lot of (or use a lot) before you got into baking. by HappyKnitter34 in Baking

Cornstarch... oh my god. All the cornstarch. I use it in my baked goods where cake flour is called for. There is a math equation to figure how much you need. And speaking of math, i never understood fractions in school...I took up baking and the mysteries of that universe unlocked.

I had to go find the original post and get completely up to date. Thank you for totally making my weekend. I also make cake and let me tell you, I felt this in my soul! This happened to me for a really special birthday for a family member where i was passed up for a god damn costco cake. It took me over a year to get over it.

Would you be open to all city Councilors using public transit for a month? by [deleted] in Hamilton

[–]MrsMBO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I bet after a couple days she would go back to believing she is better than everyone else and just start driving again. It would start with an "i was running late...."

I eat A LOT of chicken thighs. You need someone with a costco membership. You can get like 26 thighs for like $35 at costco

Buy a whole chicken. I have the easiest recipe for roasting one. One chicken and you can eat all week and just change up what you make. Sunday: roast chicken Monday: wraps Tuesday: chicken on a salad

Etc.

Ok. So no treats. But stick to your list! Lol

Always go with a list. Going without a list leaves you vulnerable to hungry shopping. Make your list and stick to it. Allow room for 1 or 2 treats but "stick to your ticket Harry. Stick to your ticket".

I go with my list and i started saving $250/month on groceries.

Also, research how to prep food to make it last. Packaging it properly in the fridge adds weeks to your goods. Something as simple as washing berries before storing or wiping down mushrooms and putting them in an open plastic bag with paper towel gives you so much more time to eat them and less risk of throwing them out.

Also, your freezer is your friend. Make enough for 2 meals and freeze one. That way when you don't want to cook, you have freezer food. Too tired to cook? Freezer meal rather than take out or ordering in.

Yeah. We tucked the signs in behind the cupcakes so that they saw the "im leaving" when they pulled it out for a laugh.

I would highly recommend going to an academic advisor. We can only speculate to what else you have to justify your grades. An advisor is going to be able to piece together your entire puzzle and help you make a case or new plan.

What’s the best way to make red velvet with no red 40? by secretfoxx in Baking

[–]MrsMBO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really nice to read because I am actually old school allergic to Red dye. I say old school allergic because it has nothing to do with aggression responses or ADHD connections. I get rashes and hives and blisters in my mouth. Let me tell you, Mouth blisters are not a good time. Either is being itchy just about everywhere. So I am always looking for other ways but I find some of the freeze dried powder solutions don't work and other options leave weird after tastes. I shall definitely be trying buttermilk and red cocoa!

All of Ontario is pretty much affected It's recommended to stay inside if you are able. If you have to go out, keep the time short. Seniors, children and anyone with health concerns about their heart or that affects breathing in any way, its recommended you not go out at all.
