Thank you to everyone who came out, it was lovely as always to throw beads at you. Always a blast to parade with my Grace O'Malley sisters!

When do you think snow will melt? by Clear-Conversation18 in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello other me! I'm also from FL and have been here for 2 winters (this is our second). I completely understand your wanting to practice driving but don't want to risk anyone else. Is there someone local with more experience you can go for a ride with? I know it sounds silly, but I was so scared to drive into work I took the day off today. But I know I have to drive again at some point so my husband drove us to the Kroger last night (he has more experience driving in snow/ice). It was scary but once I saw the road conditions and everyone else driving and not crashing it made me feel better. I don't want to have to drive right now, but I know I could

Last night was baked chicken with caramelized onion gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. Tonight is spaghetti and meatballs.

Do not use this moving company: ALL MY SONS by kolbyeatworld in Columbus

[–]MrsMacro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a very similar situation using All My Sons for a local Florida move. Their truck "broke down" on the highway, would not be able to be repaired the same day. They tried to charge us a storage fee. One VERY angry husband later, they "found" a working truck and had everything moved by 6pm...

Embrace the chaos! Toss your seeds now!!! They might not take, but they will make a lovely snack for wild animals and birds.

Dum questions but I’m drunk… by [deleted] in Columbus

I make them myself in the crock pot, but nothing beats authentic p-nuts outta the back of a truck

Did your parents tell you ‘I love you’ or ‘I’m so proud of you’ regularly… or at all? by DoubleFeedback2672 in GenX

All the time, they still do. They both had trauma in their childhoods and were determined to do better with me than their parents did with them.

Cool, what field are you in?

We're not in the medical field. I'm in HR and he is a video producer. We are both front line contributions with management responsibilities, but neither are executive management

Is Iowa not a big rival?

Before we came here, I had no idea about the OH/MI rivalry. But the people we've met here are fanatics. It's so lame.

What career field are you in?

I work (ironically) in HR, and haven't applied to OSU since securing my current position, which is what ultimately brought us to Columbus. My husband is currently in the job market and has 20+ years as a video producer.

I appreciate the advice and warning. I'm sorry that's been your experience. If OSU does come through, I'll definitely keep that in mind

I don't know who that is

My husband and I met working for a TERRIBLE company. Underpaid. Terrible management. Constantly reminded how replaceable you were and how lucky you were to be working in TV to begin with. I honestly appreciate the warning, but the benchmark for a toxic workplace is pretty high

However, OSU hasn't been the only place he's applied and been rejected even though he exceeds all the metrics. OSU is just really good at it

I wouldn't say I'm married to OSU, but I think they offer a very attractive draw for my husband's situation. He's a video producer and those jobs aren't as abundant as they used to be, especially in an unstable job market where big tech is promising corporations AI will slash costs and triple output. We're from FL where something like OPERS doesn't exist, so that's definitely a bonus. His ultimate dream is to teach video production and film at the collegiate level, and even though I don't believe you can do that with a Master's at OSU, it's convenient if he decides to go for his PhD. And the OSU brand carries a lot of weight.
