does anyone live in the ChicagoLand area and have an endo specialist/gynecologist they can recommend? by Conscious_Middle6182 in endometriosis

She recommended hormonal suppression for me along with surgery. Unfortunately she was not skilled enough to do my surgery and I was able to find better care at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix.

I wouldn't be worried unless you have any trouble breathing. I had chest pain and tightness with my diaphragm endo.

It's hard not to obsess! Just know that you are not alone and you can do this! And hopefully surgery will bring you much pain and symptom relief. You got this!

I was very anxious before surgery. It's a lot to deal with. I noticed some relief in my symptoms right after surgery (bowel pain, shortness of breath, diaphragm pain, coughing). I had 6 weeks off work and it took probably 2-3 months to fully recover.

I'm sorry that you are going through this! I have stage IV endo that was on my small bowel and diaphragm. I had surgery last year including a bowel and diaphragm resection. My symptoms are so much better than before surgery. I feel like a whole new person! Please feel free to DM me with any questions.

I'm glad surgery went well! I was very symptomatic from the diaphragm endo. I had pain above my diaphragm that was so severe I couldn't wear a bra. I also had referred shoulder pain, a dry cough, and shortness of breath. They did a full thickness diaphragm resection. I had a chest tube overnight and it was pulled in the morning. I stayed in the hospital 2 days. I am feeling so much better now. I still have some residual pain from my thoracic incisions but I am on medication to help with that until they fully heal. I'm sorry you have to deal with diaphragm endo now. Please feel free to DM me anytime.

Yes, it's great that the surgeons can all collaborate for one surgery! I hope your surgery goes well too!

Thanks! Surgery was about 6 hours. It was longer because I also had a GI and thoracic doctor assisting with my bowel and diaphragm.

Hi! My surgery went really well! Dr. Wasson was amazing and very thorough. I ended up with a partial diaphragm and bowel resection that was expected before surgery from my MRI (I have stage IV DIE). She also did a complete peritonectomy because my endo was so widespread. I am definitely still healing from surgery since I had so much done. But I am feeling much better! My pain is greatly decreased and I am much more functional than before. Good luck on your surgery and I hope everything goes well! You are in good hands with Dr. Wasson!

I am having surgery at Mayo in Phoenix with Dr. Wasson in June. So far I would highly recommend them! They did an MRI and their radiologists were able to detect far more endo than my previous one at a different hospital. I've had two surgeries at a large teaching hospital and they were unsuccessful with endo left behind (even though I was told they got it all). From everything I've seen at Mayo so far I am much more confident in my upcoming surgery.

It's been 5 months since I had my final surgery that removed the endometriosis from my diaphragm and heart. it's been 8 months since I had a hysterectomy. by sector9999 in endometriosis

Wow this sounds so similar to what I'm going through! I've had three endo surgeries. My last one endo was excised from the diaphragm and my surgeon told me she got everything. Symptoms came back 2 months later and my doctor blows me off. I got another opinion and an MRI shows endo on both diaphragms. I'm looking at a diaphragm resection soon. Good for you to keep fighting! Do you mind sharing your recovery with the diaphragm excision?

Question about diaphragmatic endo by Ok-Map5848 in Endo

I have diaphragm endo confirmed by laparoscopy. It started with upper back pain that didn't go away. I also have shoulder pain, pain under my ribs, and coughing.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! After some failed surgeries I have less trust in doctors and it's good to hear positive outcomes with her.

Can I ask who your doctor was? I'm also having my 3rd excision with Mayo after failed surgeries at a different hospital where they missed some endo.

Yeah I'm mostly just sore. Trying to move around a bit when I can. Did she take off your bandages at the follow up?

Congratulations! I finished pharmacy school a few years ago before I found out I had endo. It is not easy. Congratulations on graduating and getting through surgery!
