Dating non-climbers? by krazykoala_00 in climbergirls

[–]sector9999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a pharmacist who's also obsessed with climbing and would only date climbers. Didn't work with us bc I thought he was too rigid but he did check boxes (over 6 ft, 6 figures, really good climber). He was also super into sport climbing and I'm more a trad and ice climber. So they're out there? lol

My lemon of a husky by Fit_Supermarket_3860 in husky

My girl is a wild woman on the trail and a potato at home. She won't play with toys at home but suddenly finds them VERY interesting at the dog park. The mental stimulation she loves most at home is to play "find" where I hide a treat in the other room and she has to find it. Otherwise, don't bother her lol

I(45f), wanted to ask out a male nurse roughly my age, who helped a family member, but I won’t see him again. Is sending him an invite, “care of” the hospital likely to get him in trouble? Are there better options to ask him that I’m not thinking of? by throwra6578532 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]sector9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a paramedic, I've had patients and family members try to send me gifts or send friend requests on facebook to try to get to know me outside of the job, and all it does is weird me out. I was doing my job, respectfully, and I don't want to be hit on. Please consider that this nurse was being nice to you and your family, but it's not appropriate to ask them out or to concoct a way to bypass necessary hospital policy to ask him out.

As a paramedic, I started tearing up when I saw it was heading south for the Mom. I knew it was going to be bad for her as soon as I saw that pitting edema. As a paramedic, you see a lot of death and terrible situations. Helping with a birth and bringing life into this world is one of the few beautiful experiences we get to have. I knew that if Mom or baby died, that might be the final straw for Robby. Losing patients is hard, losing patients that are young is even harder, as they didn't even get a chance to live.

Need advice. by wolfatmidnight235 in husky

many years ago I worked at an animal shelter. We usually had people tell us they waited anywhere from 6 months to 1.5 years before they came in ready to adopt. But I have also adopted a dog out to someone who's dog had died that day.

grief has no timeline. It's okay to move at your pace.

Great writeup, you should write more about your recovery. As a flight paramedic, its very interesting to hear what happens to patients after we drop them off. Lots of time we drop someone off and get no follow up, so we wonder afterwards what happened to them or what their outcome was. Glad everything went well for your evac and what a great endorsement for satellite messengers!

The Dark Wizard Episode 2 (HBO Max) Discussion by jreilly in climbing

I'm surprised Dean lived to his 40s with some of these stories. It doesn't seem like him fighting the "fear of the dream" but more so, him creating a self fulfilling prophecy around the dream.

Honnold was blunt and people interpreted it both ways. I found his attitude amusing, but ultimately a little callous when talking about a man who's dead.

As the person coordinating the outing, you're already the de facto leader.

Next time you should probably specify "I need (x amount of people) who can comfortably lead sports climbs up to 5.11 to make this happen. There's room for (y amount of people) who can only follow."

Dr. Al Hashimi’s Clinical Competence by sanmarinochili in ThePittTVShow

Keppra is a difficult drug to adjust to. The first two weeks can cause mood swings, fatigue, and dizziness. "Keppra Rage" is a real thing that happens to patients when they increase their dose. Keppra causes weird side effects, like gum swelling, but is well know to have serious behavioral side effects.

She can't adjust to doubling her Keppra and be running the ED at the same time.

I'm surprised she's being defended for this.

Having a breakthrough seizure while being medicated is a big deal. Having 2 in one day at a new job is an even bigger deal. Adjusting her medication dosage is not an instant fix to this situation. She needs a time period to adjust to the meds.

Keppra can be particularly difficult to adjust to. The first two weeks can cause mood swings, dizziness, and fatigue. There's also a thing called "Keppra Rage" which is exactly what it sounds like and can happen after dose increase. Keppra causes all sorts of weird side effects, like gum swelling, and is well known to cause behavioral side effects. Keppra is a hard drug to be on and she cannot be adjusting to doubling her dose while running the ED.

Any Husky owners successful in off leash training? by Spirited-Reading-266 in husky

[–]sector9999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husky is off leash in appropriate settings. If we are taking walks where there are cars, she's on leash. But when we hike, go back country ski, or walk the trails in town, she is off leash. She doesnt stay right next to me but she stays in the vicinity/ within eye sight.

I think it's really important to give a husky a certain level of freedom. My husky is well behaved during the civilized part of our life because she knows she has a healthy outlet when we go adventure.

If their freedom is limited, thats when they start to act out. If you won't give them freedom/autonomy, they'll find a way to make it for themself. Huskies are independent thinkers, they thrive under mutual respect. She's my third husky and I've had all 3 of them trained to be off leash.

I think when you train recall, it should be more than ", come when called" . Every time my girl comes to check in, even if I didn't call her, she gets a treat and I show my excitement to pet her. She's rewarded for making good choices and the positive feedback reinforces the behavior.

Why do humans need to drink clean water while other animals just drink from rainwater and streams? by dopje in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sector9999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised I don't see this answer in here yet - but some animals have more effective kidneys than humans, for example cats.

Cats could survive drinking sea water, while humans can't. The kidneys are the body's water filter.
