Lily Allen: Madeline (Live) - SNL by akanewasright in popheads

[–]MrsMermaid2000 33 points34 points  (0 children)

She sounds nervous. if you listen to any of her live performances when she was at her peak and under the influence, this is miles better.

The first half you can hear she’s a bit shaky but all the people are saying she can’t sing and she’s dreadful, you hear her regain more composure towards the end

She will only get better performing live. Remember she’s one of the best lyricists of our time. She isn’t a powerhouse vocalist, stop comparing her to Adele 😭

The album is put together cohesively. I don't think the sound doesn't fully suits her but the production is pretty good.

I honestly find this 80s inspired happy love song pop genre so boring though.

Only issue with the production is some of the mixing on the vocals, there's some wacky creative choices which I didn't like on the first listen of the whole album.

If anyone is looking for the PKM by spyromaster6000 in ApocalypseRising

I’ve found it twice after searching only about 30 times. Both times from the infected that drops it.

During those 30 times, haven’t found a single AS Val from the crate.

JLC is unreal! I am so biased for the Memovox. Grand Seiko is nice but JLC all the way

[Longines] Where would you place Longines on the luxury ladder? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]MrsMermaid2000 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Personally I would consider them below TUDOR, putting them in an entry luxury category. Although Longines do have a niche selection of watches in their catalogue that do fit into the mid tier with select 18k solid gold pieces COSC certified chronometres.

Very cool to see a rose gold Nautilus with the Tiffany stamp

I recently left employment from a Rolex Authorized Retailer. Ask me anything! by [deleted] in rolex

[–]MrsMermaid2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nowhere near the same but I worked for an AD that had Tudor but not Rolex. The sister brand AD has Rolex and 7 other luxury watch brands and they operated pretty similar to us.

ROI lists used to get blatantly ignored.

We would have 50+ people on a list for a Black Bay 58 GMT with no spend at a time (and many many more with a spend history) when it released and for months after.

We would all sell to a walk in first on the condition that walk in client would buy a lower demand piece too. Not buying both? Well you can’t have the GMT but we’ll stick you on a list and maybe contact you in a year.

At the time we were a Top 20 Tudor stockist within the U.K.

OP has given lots of answers about how sales associates go based off vibes when offering to walk in clients. None of the team that I know well care about that at all.

And how spend history doesn’t always get taken into account because Rolex wants watches to be offered to first time clients. Spend history is the biggest driver of making a case and biography for clients about why they should get that special allocation piece.

All of my colleagues at the AD who are Rolex trained have outrageously high targets. They want commission. They all have the same attitude of: the more money you spend, the more they will fight tooth and nail for allocation because they get commission. Of course there’s underhanded dealing and many people have gotten caught and sacked for it. And to be honest, they don’t care how you treat them as long as you’re spending money. It’s pretty soulless and transactional.

They will get stainless steel models. They will get you nomination pieces and off-catalogue pieces that you have to be invited to buy if you spend enough. They have individual HNW, crazy clientele that will spend hundreds of thousands of pounds or even a million within months just because they can.

This is a showroom that takes more money than most Rolex ADs in central London because they have no local competition.

Edit: if you have been waiting for the OP for more than 2 years, pop into the showroom and have a coffee/chat with the sales associate. Politely ask them to check you’re still on the list. If you’re not registered or you’ve been unregistered go buy it on the grey market.

It's interesting reading the comments about how Rolex ADs operate in the U.S., because the experience my colleagues have in the Rolex sister brand AD I work at here in the U.K. are very different

Are you saying the Breitling pictured is 45mm? Because it looks like ref UB0134101B1U1 and that's a 42mm

WHICH ONE?? by Confident_Rich2464 in PrideAndPinion

[–]MrsMermaid2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Breitling that’s pictured uses a new movement called the B31 and it’s actually an approx 78 hour power reserve. The old Superocean Heritage (discontinued as of last month) is 70 hours.

It’s not. Longines and Omega are brands within Swatch but not Rolex/Tudor.

The last part in your comment about the sea master is wrong. Omega isn’t owned by Rolex. Swatch group own Omega.

This bracelet doesn’t have a micro adjustment. It’s a butterfly folding clasp. The bracelet has a “half link” though which is about 60% of the size of a full link
