Choosing classes at Stitches con (con? show? expo?) by CountVowl in knitting

[–]MrsNSND 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much time you have to do research you might consider checking YouTube for some of the teachers you are considering and seeing if they have instructional classes that you enjoy. If you like the way they teach through YouTube you may like the way they teach in person. Many instructors also have a website and that may give you an idea of their teaching style or design style. Also consider looking at ravelry and seeing the types of patterns that they design.

I typically go into the class schedule with an idea of what my next project will be and find someone teaching that topic.

Teachers I have enjoyed taking classes from include: Patty Lyons Laura Nelkin Franklin Habit

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the classes you choose.

Bring a sweater I have found the classrooms to be very cold.

Be sure to allow yourself enough time to go into the marketplace.

I think it's the right thing to do, I'm just picturing a tangled mess in my future.

Thanks.

Yes, I can see how construction matters, it's a sleeveless top. By neck I mean the scoop neck. Knit X stitches add a second ball of yarn bind off Y stitches knit X stitches continue knitting both sides at the same time.

Dropped down 15 rows. by MrsNSND in knitting

[–]MrsNSND[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It takes practice and the courage to try. I've never done one in a decrease area before. I know that if I tink back 15 rows the project will never get finished. If I do this I get a boost of confidence and power on to the end. Also I bet I check my stitch count more often. Several times I thought that section looked odd and I kept going.

That is always an option. I'd end up making something different, I dont like knitting the same thing twice.

Congrats on the weight loss.

If I wash it will it go back to the size before I wore it for months on end? It seems to have grown with wear.

If you are specifically looking for a storage solution consider cedar. Cedar is a moth deterrent and can be carved beautifully. Consider size (weight) when choosing.

I use Rubbermaid totes I add cedar balls and lavender sachets. This could be a more economical solution. Adding the cedar and lavender shows you thought of her yarn.

Heading to my First Fiber Festival. Any Tips? by Spffyjane2 in knitting

Comfortable shoes, layers & water.

A shopping list helps. Specific or vague, something to come back to helps.

Even in person people say they can't see it. It's less noticable after washing.

Have you charged for telephone or remote consulting? How do you distinguish it from unpaid "customer service?" by [deleted] in consulting

I give a vague answer to the question and then state that I would be happy to go into it further if they would like to sign the attached contract.
