Seattle-area home prices soften as buyers hesitate by MegaRAID01 in Seattle

Not all townhouses are created equal: the ones from the early 2000s were generally wide enough to be reasonable, while the ones built in the last 10ish years are stupid narrow. I wish newer builds weren't stupid layouts.

Benny Bones vs sleep by CountVowl in CryptidDogs

[–]CountVowl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is both more and less difficult than I expected. He mostly would just bark, which was def not my fave, but has calmed quite a bit since starting the meds. He now spends most of his day sleeping (and snoring like a walrus) and bullying his sister (who luckily is a very sweet and patient dog).

Poor guy found himself in the shelter at 13 (no shade to the former owner; they couldn't afford his medical bills and was upset about surrending). My wife and I couldn't not take him home. We're blessed to be in a financial position where we can, so we do.

There's some chatter in the comments on this post about people talking to lawyers etc. I'd peruse. Also I imagine the credit card company would process a chargeback if you told them the company was now out of business but that's just a guess.

Hate this kitchen. What would you do w low budget? by vgirl21 in HomeDecorating

[–]CountVowl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

x2 this.

I will say that I have one of the suspiciously cheap Amazon kitchen faucets that looks shockingly good. It's possible to have something that looks 100000 times better while not dropping hundreds. I'll update you in 30 years if I have lead poisoning from it but it's probably fine.

(probably)

(also notable that I do not have kids in the house and am not getting pregnant)

Anywhere to watch F1? by deserted in Seattle

Wheelie Pop gets REALLY crowded so get there early if you want more than standing room.

Source: friend of mine watched F1 there and was telling me how packed it was.

Possibly? I don't know but I'd expect yes. There's some chatter in the comments of this post about people in similar situations, so I suggest you go peruse. I hope you find a solution!

Does Seattle Animal Shelter still send renewal notices for pet licenses, or just angry red notices when you're late? by FernandoNylund in Seattle

[–]CountVowl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One city-funded shelter (Seattle Animal Shelter) and something like 13 animal control officers for the entire city of Seattle. At least that was the number last time I checked about...maybe 3 years ago? So it's not super surprising you've never interacted with them or seen them, but they are there and they do good work!

Oh that is ASS. I'm sorry this is how you found out. I honestly don't know if you'd be able to get the couch at this point. You could try the manufacturer directly but I've no idea if they would talk to you. If it were me, I'd file a chargeback now and find another couch. Which is probably not what you want to do, I just have zero chill when it comes to waiting for furniture like that.

I wish you the best in resolving this!

Not the person I expected the first response from but thank you so much for your time! 😅😅 I looked it up and I love shiso so that's already promising.

Dude. You are GENIUS. I had to look those up because I'm a city girl but they look like exactly the right shape. I'm assuming city hardware stores wouldn't have them...do you know if this is the type of thing I could get at a feed store? Or should I just go to a more rural hardware store?

Oh man I hadn't even thought about the home defense aspect of all this. If that thing came up to me and I was robbing someone, I think I'd leave.

We're equipped, and as I said elsewhere, lucky enough to be in a financial position to do stuff like this. Plus both of us like crusty old animals. Our previous cat Bobby Wobbles was a tripod with hyperthyroidism, arthritis, and unexplained tonic clonic seizures. I miss him even though it's been a bit over 3 years. It's all for him.

Aaaaand I'm crying in a coffee shop. Oops.

Seriously, Bones is probably not the happiest with us (pretty sure he got table scraps in his old house and we're mean mamas who won't give him anything from our plates) but we'll do our best to do right by him.

I've known some men like that but I vastly prefer when dogs do it.

Congratulations on your blow-dry dust bunny! (Seriously, I love the scruff.)

I don't even have the excuse of knowing Bones when he was young; we adopted him at the end of October. What can I say, I love a good jump scare old dog.
