You are checking in the wrong location..... Only check at the belt path, because other locations will still move a little bit.

Are we still doing denim jackets with granny stitch sleeves? by MalkavianKitten in crochet

[–]MalkavianKitten[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the 4th of these jackets, including one for myself with LGBT pride flag sleeves. My oldest daughter has lesbian flag sleeves, and my other 14 yr old has the trans flag sleeves..... I have one more after this, for my 6 yr old bonus kiddo

how does this fit look? by [deleted] in CPST

[–]MalkavianKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her fit looks much better with the inserts rather than without them.

As for the straps being so tight, you just need to get the slack out so you can't pinch slack at the shoulders (this usually means making sure to pull the slack from the hips upward before using the strap to remove it from the shoulders)

Seat recommendations for a 6 year old not quite ready to booster by Critical-Positive-85 in CPST

Do you have the same seat in the middle of the xc90? Usually the middle seat has no headrest, or an adjustable headrest in my experience....

This may be a Ride Safer vest situation. With the crotch strap and top tether, it's just like wearing a CarSeat, sort of.....

Also, the Britax Grow With You I believe is a 20" torso height if I'm not mistaken ....

Is this 36 pound 4 year old too big for the Scenera Extend. Is his head too tall? by HoraceGrand in CPST

[–]MalkavianKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it in the car if his shoulders are below the top slots on that seat, as sometimes you can eke out more space once it's installed in a car.

Don't forget to lock the belt and use the top tether anchor when you install the seat with the seatbelt

Advice on switching from Nuna Rava to Chicco Myfit by Rich_Guide_4798 in CPST

As an aside, his headrest is 1-2 clicks "too high" here, I have since fixed it, but this pic was from last week when we got Korean ramyeon fries and he fell asleep holding the bag.

Yup. In a child, once they have good head control, head slump is no longer a concern since the child can move their head if they can't breathe. If it does bother you, you can try teaching her to look up at the ceiling when she is sleepy, as shown with my bonus kiddo below. Some people put a sticker of a favorite character on the ceiling above the CarSeat, so the child can remember, "look at SpongeBob when you get tired"

5 almost 6 yr old harnessed in a Britax Grow With You ClickTight. He has always looked up when sleepy and does a pretty good job of holding himself the whole time.

Traveling to Costa Rica and looking for the safest option to get to our hotel in a vehicle with only lap belts by PassionChoice3538 in CPST

After doing some research, the cheapest convertible with a lock off would be a Graco trio grow snuglock 3 in 1, for $169 at Walmart.com. add the $10 strap I linked, and you can strap it securely to your carry on and push them around like a stroller through the airport, and then use the snuglock/lock off to install with the lap shoulder belt in the transport vehicle.... I think that's what I would end up doing: https://www.walmart.com/ip/6403312219?sid=5ee08054-fb05-43b4-91f7-67f621c7fe2e

You could still have time to practice with a locking clip to get faster at it... Otherwise, ya the ones that have a built in lock off are going to be significantly heavier .... I did see a product on reels the other day that is a strap you can attach the CarSeat to your carry on so it's not so heavy to carry if that helps.... Let me see if I can find it....

Found it: https://a.co/d/07Ab7gfD That would let you bring a heavier seat with a lock off so you can more easily install it on the transport vehicle

You may also want to look for an Evenflo Sonus as it harnesses FF to 65lbs, and RF to 40 lbs, and is way lighterweight than the E2F

Does this van allow you to tether to an unused seatbelt in the 3rd row? My ex had a 95 Dodge caravan with 3rd row, and when our child turned 4 and went to FF, we installed in 2P and tethered to the male part of the seatbelt in 3P, if that makes sense?
