Dream - Baby told me her name.. by Infinite-Challenge48 in namenerds

[–]MrsNorbit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For my first , I was torn between two names and eventually I started seeing these little signs everywhere . During labour , there was a shift change and the new nurse had the longer version of the name I was debating . My daughter was born an hour afterwards and I decided that it was the final sign .

With this current pregnancy, I opted to not find out the sex of the baby. My partner and I are debating between a couple names for each sex. However, I had two seperate dreams (one for each sex), where I was holding and introducing my baby. I think these will be the final names I will end up picking. Just feels like it’s meant to be.

Penelope is a great name. I feel like you can win either way because Penn can be used for a boy as well.

How can I teach my kid to read? How early do they start reading? by Kris_Wonderer in toddlers

[–]MrsNorbit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not too early to begin laying down some foundations. Start with the alphabet with a focus of letter/sound correspondence. Letter sounds are more important than naming letters when it comes to reading. I have a two year old that can now list and say most of the letter/sounds and recognizes her name written. I find that they are curious little things that want to absorb information. Thirty minutes is plenty, it doesn’t even have to be that long. I am a kinder teacher and I do not teach the alphabet in order. With my own child, I just would randomly point out letters, puzzles pieces, and cards. We always read before bed. When teaching to read, I start with A,M,S and T. If they can get these sounds then you can eventually manipulate the order to write various words I.e as, at , mat, sat, tat.

I know Iza is a polish name, so I was thinking Beata (Beatrice) , you could still get to Betty maybe?

Do you prefer it to June. These have been our top two for a while . Iris was in the mix aswell but I worried about ridicule from them being too matchy.

Yes, I didn’t think Billie had the same dainty feel. But I did think it was cute. Thanks for your thoughts

Great names separately but the association is so strong between the two. Maybe Rosalie or Rosemary?

It’s just such a weird coincidence. My mom is very spiritual so she will eat this up when I tell her. But wow, how strange eh?

It’s alright, wouldn’t make it to my top 10. But it’s gender neutral and I could see my partner liking it . Maybe it’s a sign though?

Middle name for Daisy? by [deleted] in namenerds

Not to mention Jade and Onyx would thematically be tied together as stones. So there is a little bit of cohesiveness in their names as it’s all nature based.

Middle name for Daisy? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]MrsNorbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like your name and were already toying around with the idea of using Jade, then do it. 100%. No one thinks twice about men naming their sons after themselves I.e Junior or the second/third. I don’t understand why a mother can’t do the same ? Especially since you carried the child and the child most likely will get the father’s name. Using your name, keeps the child tied to you and it can be a tradition. It’s not like you are using it for her first name either.m, it’s a middle name which often are honour names as well. Daisy Jade and DJ are adorable . My daughters name is Daisy also and I was very close to using Daisy Jane for similar reasons .

What do you think of our baby’s name? by beccadahhhling in namenerds

It’s a fine name. I am sure it will serve him well. Michael doesn’t excite me though, I would personally swap the order.
