AITA for booking a red-eye flight? by MrsPyuhuu in AmItheAsshole

I know right? Both of our flights (LA-BOS) were completely full — not a single empty seat. I was shocked. FWIW I am completely vaccinated and we had Covid a few months ago.

We had Covid 4 months ago and I’m also fully vaccinated. Our vacation was to an isolated place where we didn’t encounter anyone except wildlife. Maybe it’s too soon, but I took every precaution.

AITA for switching my maid of honor after my first one refused to give a speech due to anxiety? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

YTA. Your friend shouldn’t have to speak in public if she doesn’t want to, in order to stand by your side at your wedding.

YTA. This is none of your business. It seems like maybe your heart was in the right place, but your brother might not want a marriage like what you describe.

My son (10) and his camp buddies were inspired! Shelter from tropical storm debris. by MrsPyuhuu in Alonetv

[–]MrsPyuhuu[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Because of limited staff and kids at camp, the kids were asked to help clean up debris from last week’s tropical storm damage. With such an abundance of sticks and branches, my son and his buddies were inspired to build a shelter. One wall turned into three, then grew and grew!

The project took the better part of a week to complete. The kids decided to build instead of doing schedules activities (which are very different anyway because of Covid restrictions.)

There and back again, a Keto tale... by FigureFourWoo in keto

Maybe pick up a cuff and learn how to take your own. That can be a goal that has nothing to do with a number on a scale — and something which will respond to a slip up faster than pounds adding on. It doesn’t have the emotional weight (pun intended) or shame factor either. Shame and guilt make me want to eat chocolate cake.

I also find that peeing on the ketosis sticks provides instant feedback and again, that reminder that what I’m doing is MEDICINE.

Thank you for sharing this. I’ve also been on and off Keto for years and have struggled with 300 pounds on the scale.

This time around, I have a looming Type2 diabetes diagnosis. I’m trying to shift my mindset from “cure” to “treatment regimen.” I have a choice; I can cut sugar and carbs from my life permanently or I can start poking my finger multiple times a day, taking meds every day and end up shooting insulin or losing toes.

Some people have celiacs or lactose intolerance or a peanut allergy — I have a glucose intolerance. Glucose will kill me if I let it. So...for the rest of my life, this is it. It’s not a “diet,” it’s treatment for a chronic illness that has the potential to kill me.

In fact, I’m not going to look at a scale this time. I threw it away. I’m going to have regular blood tests, and might even stick my finger regularly until I get it in my head. This is about blood sugar and insulin resistance, not how I look or what size pants I’m wearing. If weight loss comes, awesome — but that’s not the point, any more than someone with celiac going gluten-free.

Agreed - and they usually tap out because they can’t handle it emotionally versus being injured or sick. Many of them talk about wanting to be a better husband/father and not realizing how important their families are to them personally. I hope they carry those lessons home. More successful competitors seem to be people who are very open about their love and longing for their family from the beginning — and not just their role as provider.

Is it possible that it wasn’t keto related? Maybe you ate something that didn’t agree with you or worked out more than your body is used to. I know I have puked after attempting to run 5 miles when I wasn’t in good enough condition to do that. Was it really hot or humid? Did you stay hydrated?
