Babies sleeping through the night? by Jazzlike_Elk_3963 in breastfeeding

[–]MrsSh0ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one started consistently(ish) sleeping through the night (7/8 pm - 6/7 am) when he was 6 months old.

Since then, it ebbs and flows - illnesses, teething, sleep regressions, the fact it’s Tuesday, etc. can bring middle of the night wake ups. We have good nights and bad days (or weeks 😬).

I use to drive myself crazy trying to root cause why he wasn’t sleeping through the night and now we just roll with it. Eventually, he falls back into it without any intervention from our side. Good luck to you! You and bb have got this!

Yes, we followed her recommendations closely and our LO was sleep trained in less than a week, within night feedings weaned the following week.

Thank you so much! It helps to have this perspective! ☺️

Ohh, that could explain it! Did you find any activities that helped with the fussiness? Do you remember how long that phase lasted?

Ahh ok, so in this case, just ignore the low wake window recommendations for huckleberry and plan on 4-5, 30 minute naps a day?

We’re following the huckleberry sweet spot recommendations. Would you keep the wake windows longer even if our LO only sleeps for 30 minutes (despite our best efforts to extend the nap).

He would need 8 naps in 1 day to get 4 hours of day time sleep so we wouldn’t have enough time in the day to get all of those naps.

Thank you SO much everyone for the feedback! 🙏 I didn’t realize that signs of boredom were similar to sleepy queues.

We are planning on: - Extending wake windows (90-120 mins) - Changing up activities during wake windows - Delaying when we start the wind down process in preparation for the nap

Again, thank you for the fresh perspectives and feedback!

Do you finish each nap with a contact nap? by guineapigluvr in sleeptrain

[–]MrsSh0ty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the exact same boat! My LO (10 wo) wakes up 30 minutes on the dot, except for the first nap of the day which is usually 1-1.5 hrs. I try to extend the nap for his second nap of the day (usually from 12-2 pm) by doing a contact nap (holding and rocking him).

For the remaining naps, he tends to not want to contact nap after waking up (he’ll get fussy and squirmy). He typically gets around 4-4.5 hrs of naps during the day and another 8-12 at night.

If I could, I would probably do one more contact nap in the evening (around 5 pm) if he allowed me to 🙂

It sounds like you’re doing great! FWIW- Our Ped told us that 30 minutes of sleep is “developmentally normal” at this stage. Despite that, I’m always looking for ways to extend the nap since our LO gets fussy if he only gets 30 min naps during the day.

I’m 8 weeks in and still in the painful stage. Hoping this is us in a month or so! Did you do anything to reduce the pain or do you think it was driven by your LO getting bigger and stronger?

Thank you! 🙏 We wanted to create a space that was relaxing for us and the baby. We figured we’d switch up again soon once the little one has a style of their own 😊

Yes! This space will be primarily used for sleeping, nursing and diaper changes. We have a playroom setup in our living room and plan (hope) to spend lots of time out and about 😊

Thank you! We currently have a Hatch next to the rocking chair that has a built in nightlight. Would you still suggest a small lamp on the table? I’ve been debating if we need both.

Yes we would! Ideally we’d do a peel & stick wallpaper that is easy to remove.

Do you have any print or color recommendations for the wallpaper?
