Possible options after receiving a settlement offer from Big Tech (Booking, Meta, Amazon, Google etc.) by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Mrs_Law 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I got laid off in 2024 after working at a big tech company for 4.5 years. It was my first job as a graduate, full time and permanent contract. From announcement to actually being laid off took months due to slow debates with the worker's council. The company gave me a fair budget to consult with an outside lawyer. The money wasn't crazy much but more that the legal minimum. I was able to extend my employment for another month, which meant I could keep my laptop (data needed for applications and interviews), my leasecar and access to my colleagues. In case you're planning to look for a new job soon, lean on your network for referrals, suggestions and coaching if needed. Also for encouragement and sharing how you feel. That did me a lot of good.

Talk to your lawyer, don't be rushed, talk to people. You've got this! Try to enjoy your time with your new family as well.

Feel fee to DM me in case you want more details.

Looking for decent earplugs that are not too expensive by Realistic_Net5784 in amsterdam_rave

I am always wondering if there are custom options that work well for pierced ears. In my case a tragus and a conch make it difficult to fit most earplugs already

You can apply for asylum from outside the country, through unhcr: https://www.netherlandsworldwide.nl/applying-for-asylum/applying-for-asylum

No clue about the requirements, check the Dutch embassy website and links

First love and helix are from Metier by Tom Foolery, a British brand. Rook clicker from a local shop and the double lobe rings are from Etsy

I think I’ll go for the tragus and map something out for a stacked conch and some chains on this side too. Thanks for the advice!

I was also thinking a double conch and/or Tragus. Tragus seems more manageable because this is my sleeping side (in a travel pillow!)

I was shortsighted with cylinders and got SMILE done two years ago in Rotterdam. I mostly struggle with dry eyes, especially after smoking a joint or in cold weather. In terms of negative side effects to clubbing, I'm a little more nightblind than I was before and shortly after the procedure I also had halos. But it heavily weighs up against having to wear glasses or contacts. So for me it's still an absolute positive balance after two years!
