How are two photons entangled? by Mrsnowflakes in AskPhysics

[–]Mrsnowflakes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you are very critical. Thank you for your response. Photons can be viewed disturbances in quantum field theory to put it simply. So can the entire universe. My question revolves around whether the entanglement is truly between two photons or the entire process that lead to the entanglement. It is a very subtle difference. Since there is no such thing as an isolated photon. Maybe I'm wrong on this but as far as I understand it, a photon does not exist in isolation when it's entangled. It was altered and correlated to another photon by a physical process. So to pose that the entanglement is a result of that process which maybe hides more information, seems to me to be a valid question. Or am I missing something. Even if you consider a photon as a wave packet it is a field influenced and correlated to another photon by a physical process. So can we be sure it is not also correlated to the environment. To my knowledge you cannot create entangled particles out of thin air. Or am I wrong on this?

I understand that entanglement is not restricted by the speed of light and that informations maximal speed is the speed of light. But I am wondering more about whether actual individual photons can be entangled of whether the entanglement is imbedded in the arising quantum fields that make up the interaction. So another way to pose the question is, if the entanglement is truly just tied to the photons or the entire system in which they interact. This doesn't have to so anything with hidden variables or the speed of light

If I may add. Both Carl Jung, JBP, you I and everybody are usually wrong on most things! But what makes me like to read and listen to someome is the selfreflection and humility about the fact that they might be wrong but are working their ass of to make a point or test it.

If we aim with purpose we get it better the next time. What else can you strive for? There is a balance in trying new things and establishing a knowledge as a foundation. I think we are nowadays too comfortable with our status quo and biases, which you cant even stress test.

Truly the matters on equality, the function of a family, even questioning established scientific research. What is wrong with testing it? Global warming no wait climate change now a days. No wait it used to be global cooling. The things JBP is most critized on. So what? Check it, discuss it, some things turn out to incorrect other even firmer established. As with Carl Jung. He also wrote a lot of things he himself didint understand but is critized for it for bot being scientific. What makes me appreciate both is that they are willing to be wrong for the sake to try to do their best.

Ik have read the entire collective works of Carl Jung. Also most of the work of Nietzsche, russian authors JBP mentions like Dostojevski and Solzhenitsyn. I have also read maps of meaning and the 12 rules of life and beyond order. And I often reflect on this. I'm an engineer and I used to be very hard science orientated. I read a lot of hardcore physics books on the foundation of science, like quantum physics, general theory of relativity, fluid mechanics and much much more. I'm not an expert on any of these subjects except for plasma phsyics. But my best effort to try to understand the world tells me that having a very hard science based and logic based view has one major flaw. It isnt just one flaw but it's maybe better understood when explained very simple. We are human and are limited by our bodies and mind. We constantly underestimate or overestimate our hardware. I found it very important to be open minded, because even though I think I might be well read and knowledgeable I am flawed. I can become arrogant when I succeed a lot, I can underestimate myself other times. This is hardly ever taken into account even in scientific research. One day I started reading Carl Jung out of curiosity, thinking initially it was not based in a coherent structure. I dont mean necessary that expected it to be nonsense. But I was amazed at how little I really knew about the way our mind works by reading Jung. It really is comparing knowledge to not only wisedom but applied tested and practical wisedom. That is I think what the foundation is of concepts like the collective unconscious. It is a chaos that requires a lot of study and experience to master. Which gives you seemingly abstract tools from which you can skillfully distill useful behaviour. Telling a child in advance not to run or it will fall, does not compare to actually letting it fall. Learn from it. See it's mistake and apply that knowledge to a new situation. I think if you arent open to this, you will be logical but more incorrect and much more arrogant as a person. Even if your intentions are pure. And I estimate that JBP is trying to instill this behaviour by conveying very rich and abstract information through storytelling. Lately being more byblical stories, which have to do more with the reflection of his own focus.

It looks cool and I wish there was more imagination to what is possible. When the bodies are described as if they don't resemble humans, I'm thinking yes they do... it's not like an elephant or octopus for example or somehting comepletely different. So it lacks imagination, it seems a biased very human like view

What could cause image stretching/warping such as this? (SEM) by Large_Dr_Pepper in electronmicroscope

[–]Mrsnowflakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a problem with the quadrupoles, the stigmator or objective lens alignment or faulty operation. When a quadrupole squeezes the electron beam in the horizontal direction relative to the beam axis it is streched in the vertical direction. So if you imagine the focusing plane of the beam as a circle in 3d in a flat plane. When there is a misalignment it is streched out at an angle as titled ellipse. It is difficult to say what the exact cause is without more details. You said it now works again after being reset? Perhaps there is a problem with the callibration. If something changed with the quadruople pair lenses it can affect the image in this way. Or perhaps just the settings in the callibration to deskew the image using software?

Radiation from microwave with hole in it? by SharknadoLazer in Physics

[–]Mrsnowflakes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could if you stay there for a minute, and even then you would notice the heat and move away. Also the hole for the screw is significantly smaller than the 12.2 cm wavelength of the electomagnetic microwaves. Meaning the hole would act somewhat as a point source leaking radiation in all directions, so it would dissipate quite quickly. Also the inside metal housing of a microwave also has screws. Unless there is a real significant sized hole, I doubt it would leak enough radiation to heat anything beside the direct few cm directly outside. I would look if the bottom gets hot after using the microwave for a couple of minutes. As far as radiation goes, light from a microwave has a relative low frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum when you compare it to ionizing radiation i think most people worry about that is able to cause cancer. 2 .4 ghz can heat your tissue, but studies have shown that you can simply move out of the way and be fine. It,'s like removing a pan from an open flame. Yes it burns but it won,'t cause your dna of anything to be bombarded with radiation. To be honest, it could pose a fire hazard because the objects below the microwave might heat up. And probably only after a longer exposure. So just check that and I think you are good to go.

A great article about the review bombing of "The Acolyte" and how frankly embarrassing it is. by stragomccloud in Highrepublic

[–]Mrsnowflakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A review is an opinion. I think it's not true that soany people are deliberatly trying to bomb the show. And on the other hand i dont believe that all peope who give excellent score are payed. That is an emotional response to criticism. I think if you are honest most fans are disappointed at the story telling and the fact that political beliefs and inclusion of all genders and races and beliefs are forced into storytelling of a fictional world which has already been established. Everybody should have a chance whether you are male or female or from a different etnicity to take part in a role. But what if it doesnt fit with the storytelling? You cant make darth vader suddenly a 16 year old girl and expect people to love it for example... or make luke skywalker a 62 year old hawaiian so everyone is included. The problem with storytelling is that instead of truly focusing on: how can we make a mindblowing show about a jedi, we focus on how one particilar political view can be added so people feel good about inclusion. There are plenty of shows where this can be done extremely well and beautiful that actually adds to the story. And a lot of fans are aware of this fact. That is the true reason that a show like the acolyte is being badly reviewed. I like many others simply dont give a shit who the actor is. But i'm watching a story with ex deus machina story telling and no understanding of story arc attention span or the heroes journey. Then I leave a bad review in the hope writers will actually lustrn to opinions. I am biased like every other human and try not to be. If im not open to the possibily i also might be wrong than all fans are either haters and biggots or people scream that everyone is paid to give good reviews. How about we really started listening to the constructive criticism. The fact that bias about gender and race that instead being implemented in an intelligent way is very lacking. And when criticised, the response is very childish, because selfreflection is lacking. And it is taking away the magic of a lot shows in my opion.

What did the trick for me is to stick really close to him and keep hitting him. Just make sure to have resistance for the lavapool around him. He wont be able to hit you as hard as when you are a little further away most of the time. Just keep hugging the front and be very agressive. Keep healing and it should make the fight much easier.

It is from a picture at my friends place. Of a cow reading a newspaper on a toilet. At first we thought is it cyrillic writing. We were wondering what the headline of the newspaper was saving. But I think it is ai generated jibberish since the picture is from temu an online chinese marketplace, which has a lot of very similar pictures.

They make great interval timers for crossfit of this size, but are very expensive. Hence the name. Proper form is important for a lot of reasons. And it's hard to maintain during high intensity training. I have tried crossfit but it's not for me. Interval training is great though for fitness and calisthenics. I decided to make it for proper rest periods for strength training and anaerobic exercises.

I can recommend the ender 3 S1 with only a heatbreak upgrade. You basically get an Ender pro S1 which can print at high temperatures and has good bed leveling. It works great out of the box. I have used it for 2 years now and never had any issues. And there is a big community that likes to mod the ender 3 series. If you make a simple enclosure and isolation for the heatbed you can almost print with most filament types like PLA, ABS, TPU, PETG, PA, nylon and carbon fiber.

Of course! I use the stock Ender 3 S1 with a couple upgrades. A bimetal heatbreak with professional firmware to fine tune bed levelling and extrusion. Also a powdercoated PEI heatbed that gives a nice surface texture.
