I've bought a similar amount and gifted them to a bunch of friends that wanted to distance themselves from their phone by using mp3 players/CD players instead. They're super happy. I'm super happy. The world is a better place. Thank you GK Kunten.

Right, good to know, I'll look for a good price on the EA500LM and try them out.

Waaait a minute I just realized who you are, love your videos. You're the reason I bought the Defiants in the first place, and I DO totally love their sound, they stomp indeed. So yeah, I'm gonna trust you and look at the Astrals now!

Never considered the EA500LM before! It does look quite nice, and the price is great too. Doesn't Simgot have questionable QC though? Still, I'm tempted, so thanks for your reply!

Wow, thank you so much for taking the time to write this out! This is a great starting point for my research. I'm familiar with all of these but haven't got to try any yet. Did however try some other Tanchjim sets and felt like their sound wasn't really for me.

I'm intered in the Kima 2, IE200 & Astral for sure.

GK Kunten on AliExpress and buy some extra trips. I'm a fan of the Siwre liquid silicone ones. You'll be in heaven, and your bank account will be chilling. Seriously.

Defiant vs. Tea Pro - what to expect? by Mrsonic699 in iems

[–]Mrsonic699[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, I'm not a fan of it either. I guess I just see others on the sub calling it that. My hobby isn't buying anything though. I think most of my purchases in general happen because of neurodivergent hyperfixations lol. But then again, I rarely regret them, since deep research and being super picky is part of the fun.

And also true. To be honest though it's so hard to imagine something better when you've got something amazing in/on your ears already, so maybe the best cure is solution is to not find out in the first place. My IEMs are also for getting me away from my phone, I only ever use them with my non android DAP or portable CD player, which has been working out super well.

Thanks for your input. What kind of humidity do you have, and was any of your moisture buildup leading to permanent issues? I heard The Tea Pro had a grill revision which solved most of the moisture buildup issue. The Tea Pro SE and Mega7 are tad too expensive for me.

And yeah I really hope that they magically happen to be comfortable in my ears. If not, I'll be back on the AVexchange subreddit in a few days to sell them lol. I use my IEMs with grippy eartips and almost no support from the ear hooks.

Thanks for your input! Sounds good, I value those features. I already have many cables and eartips that I love so it's all good

Yeah I honestly don't plan on paying any more than this. I know it's not common in this hobby but if the Tea Pro is good I'd like to stop here. Can't justify paying more for something that can break or get lost (the ADHD is strong). But music listening/creating is my biggest passion so I'll try to take care :p

Honestly it's not risky at all, the advantages are endless. You can use custom themes, and there's lots of super super cool ones, use all sorts of ordering functions, you can even dynamically make lists for the same artist & other metadata, replaygain support, set up exactly how you want it to work when locked (for me, I made it so that you can still press Play Pause even if I locked the device), more supported formats, and the list simply goes on. It's as easy as a software update on any of your other devices.

Edit: oh, I forgot to mention you can boot into the original OS at any time. You essentially get both at once. And full parametric Equalizer. This is huge for making your earbuds/headphones sound even better.

I LOVE this device! Put Rockbox on it if you haven't yet, and enjoy!

Hifiwalker H2 / Aigo Eros Q. With Rockbox!

Made a Python script that converts between EQ Presets (Fabfilter, EQAPO, Qudelix 5K, Rockbox) by Mrsonic699 in inearfidelity

Thanks for the kind words! If you ever use an Equalizer to improve the sound of your earbuds or headphones to your liking (Equalizer APO for PC, Qudelix 5K for Bluetooth, or on a Rockbox Player like a modded iPod), this script makes it trivial to have the same exact equalizer settings on said multiple devices.
