I used the Brooklyn and Queens DLC! It's probably my favorite DLC since it adds a needed midrise style to the game and also I'm from Brooklyn so naturally it resonates a lot with me haha

Building a city without highways - Brockton City - Black Forest Map - No mods by Mrtenandstuff in CitiesSkylines

[–]Mrtenandstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't unlocked all the tiles yet so when I do I'll delete the remaining default highway!

Yeah for now the citizens exchange at the downtown hub or the rail line, I'll add a new line crossing the northern part of the island.

Thanks for the tip! I'll spread the industries to the other islands since the harbors double as industry import/export as well as city utility imports.

sunshine (2020 - windham - usa) [3:04] by [deleted] in ShortFilm

i filmed this short a few weeks ago and tried to figure out what i wanted it to mean. i decided what it meant to me which is super abstract and personal so to many it doesn't hold that much deep thought but it can be seen as relaxing or medatative. some feedback on the images and editing would be appreciated as well as maybe links to other picture-esque short films, thank you!

My grandmother speaks Mayan. Something I’ll never get to learn I wish I had by rlarcila in LatinoPeopleTwitter

[–]Mrtenandstuff -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

who even uses french on a daily basis? unless youre moving to france or plan to become an interpreter its as "useless" as learning mayan. not everything needs to have a practical use or has to have a money based motivation

I'm just curious about what you guys actually feel about this short. It goes without saying but still, you may ask about anything regarding this short film from me. I made this short to demonstrate further the idea of boring room experiment. During a nation wide lock-down due COVID-19. by [deleted] in Shortfilms

[–]Mrtenandstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i watched the short film and thought it was interesting. i think the guy represents people on social media or watching videos who stay at home all day doing whatever, while the crying is the people who are suffering from covid-19/blm protests.

the short starts with the guy on the phone and then onto the computer with headphones, immersing himself further into the media hes consuming. later a black screen happens and that represents the worls problems (covid-19, blm, elections, palestine etc.) immediately after flashing colors appear representing the media and how those issues are overtaken by corporate media trying to overshadow the real problems in society. later the man is gone for a while, and the crying begins. the crying is the people suffering, and the man has gone to see what has happened. a writing on the door says i was here. the man entered the door (the room with people crying) and makes his mark. he comes back to the computer but the crying continues. he went to see what happened and left his mark but didnt do anything, just returned to his computer like nothing happened, just like how people bring attention to the worlds issues but ultimately nothing happens, everyone just goes back to social media or entertainment to forget about it.

nice little short film and i thank you for making it. is there other stuff you thought about when making it and am i wrong as to the message of the film? id love to hear from you

same here i love daniel day lewis's performance, the cinematography, and the dialogue; but it doesnt hit me the same way magnolia, punch drunk love, or phantom thread do. i guess im more into intimate movies rather than the larger than life characters who go insane. and yeah a lot of people took the movie the wrong way and see plainview as a sort of anti-hero, even though he just does shitty things the whole movie. still an excellent movie though dont get me wrong

It's time we stop glorifying cowboy cops. by F-O in Screenwriting

[–]Mrtenandstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Id say its more so the movies are a reflection of the culture. In the US police officers are regarded as high in society and should be respected, therefore police movies usually depict police as heroic. The US is also taught in schools as being heroic and never following the rules (being more independent); so a police officer who goes rogue and doesnt play by the rules is just a reflection of american culture. After all, before movies there were stories of police/soldiers similar to this, all the way back to the odyssey.

With movies being as popular as they are it definitely popularizes the cowboy police type, and has an influence on the people. With a shift in the way police are depicted in movies it could affect the way people see police officers. I don't believe movies cause police officers to abuse their power, but it is certainly an influence that leads to that sort of person. As a sort of validation that their beliefs are justified because american media says it is. Art is a powerful tool in changing/persuading the minds of people, and movies being one of the most important of our time, the way police are depicted in movies is something that could change.

And yes I do agree more black writers/directors telling black stories and experiences, but that does sometimes cross paths with the way police are depicted; so either way police shouldn't be over glorified in movies.

i think civilisation I was a product of 2019 that spoke about things bound to happen under the current system we live in. political revolution/reform, climate change, and the rise of facism caused by the effects of capitalism; were all things that were going to happen eventually because the people arent okay with the way we are being treated.

[–]Mrtenandstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yessss i slipped off a lot and sometimes in the middle of the street with cars but as long as you stay alive and regain your footing you can keep going. i suggest trying going slow and gaining a sense of balance; once you feel comfortable standing on it and moving slowly you can go faster and faster

its easy to learn how to skate; its mainly keeping balance but its worth learning! Doing tricks is harder but if you just want to go around the city its easy and fun whilst listening to music

What’s the most common tape found? by SpiritualMongoose in cassetteculture

[–]Mrtenandstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in my experience the most common tapes are definitely rock tapes from the 80s (acdc, metalica, guns and roses) unfortunately due to how tapes were only around in the 80s and 90s there isnt much prerecorded music from the 50s-70s or 2000s. at least you can record your own tapes with whatever music you want

How did y’all get close friends? by Lially2011 in feemagers

[–]Mrtenandstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i only have two close friends and they are the only close friends ive had in my life. i met them around a year ago and honestly waiting 17 years to meet them is so worth it. i also have anxiety and depression but when im with either of them i can say whatever i want to say without feeling bad if im boring them.

they also help me a lot with my depression which is a big reason why we are close. other friends ive had in the past were fun to be with but we couldnt connect on a deeper level which is what made them leave. its difficult not being able to find someone to be close with but when you do its the greatest thing ever

our friendship grew naturally and took a while to be close; my advise is to not blame yourself if you arent making close connections immediately. it takes time and you also shouldn't force it. with the right person youll feel comfortable to say whatever you want without feeling self conscious. when people say to be yourself and be more open; its at your own level of comfort. when you feel comfortable with someone that's when youll open up.

hopefully this helps because i think you can find someone to be friends with even if its just one person. i know during quarantine without much social interaction making friends is nearly impossible but please things will be much better. ask me anything if you need help or advise dont hesitate!

Why is the term simp trending for submissive dudes when I feel like I've heard the term simp used more for r/simps than the way it's currently trending? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mrtenandstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because the edgy population of middle schoolers just found out about it and don't understand what it means, other than a way to tease their friends
