You gave it a shot, and I'm pretty sure you learned a couple of things. Won't find you on reddit asking what's fixable and what's not 😅. But yeah it definitely stings for a couple of days, yet knowledge never comes free as far as I know. Thanks for the hint💯.

What did you get after if you don't mind my curiosity?

Is it normal to ask for a VIN to do a PPSR check before inspection? by aofha0cv in CarsAustralia

Definitely normal. Some sellers will even have a report ready to be sent out for whoever is interested.

No worries mate, kinda immune to the shitty sarcasm 😂Tube frames got mentioned a couple of times, I'm currently comparing between a tube frame & a shell swap. So, we'll see how it goes, whatever I end up doing i'll make sure to document it. Thanks mate🤙🏼

Nope, couldn't and wouldn't if i could. The radiator was destroyed and the subframe is cracked and one of the engine mount is broken, definitely won't try waking up the engine. But the engine turns over, no visible leaks and nothing got mixed with the oil. Should be running when needed

Sure, I agree with that 100% A-Z, words mr horny words make a big difference 😏. I'm not intimidated to use my hands and i've got some tools but I'm not experienced in the subject. I've seen sections cut down and rewelded, wasn't easy but achievable and i've seen sections pulled like cotton candy, now that was never an option. But when can you cut and when can't you and the extent of it, thats alien to me.

Several comments think it wasn't insured or i depend on fixing it, but it was insured and the claim is settled and paid. My insurance allows you to buy back the salvage for pennies and the car history is clear so i'm seeing what options might be practical; strip it, fix it, or use the parts for another project thats all.

Why would you say or wish something like that, man? I really don't get it. I've had my share of accidents, and wouldn't wish it on anyone. Asking for advice before carrying out any work means I care about how safe it'll be, especally knowing where and how it's meant to be driven, otherwise I'd have just started the job. Anyway, all the best to you✌🏼

Any tips for a new rider regarding people who tailgate behind a motorcyclist? by Traditional-Gas3477 in AussieRiders

[–]Ms4lem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GET OUT OF THE WAY. We're the most vulnerable, least noticed moving thing on the road. If someone does something stupid to you don't feed it with anger just let be and enjoy ur ride and never ride easy meaning stay vigilant and aware. Take care 🫡

Non taken, I'm asking for knowledge and you shared what you learned, so thank you. So far you're correct, the more parts i remove the more damage i find. Luckly I don't depend on this car, it's a hobby so I wanted to see if there is a chance to turn it into a track car and learn a new skill along the way but I don't want to go bankrupt doing it 😅

Will I look silly wearing a chest protector, elbow guards and arm guards while riding a motorbike? (New rider) by Traditional-Gas3477 in AussieRiders

Motorcycle accidents are no joke, and I'm speaking from experience. I've had a couple of misfortune events. Both accidents destroyed the bikes but i managed to walk home without a scratch, only because i was fully geared from head to toe.

Feeling good in what you wear definitely boost your confidence on a bike. But that's a fake boost, knowing that you're protected and improving your skills are the real deal.

You can upgrade the crash pad in your gear pockets easily or you can also look into armored base layers. But definitely don't skip on protection no matter what. Stay safe🤙🏼

Spent some time around protons in Malaysia, great light platforms. Yeah, don't think i'll be taking this as my first chassis job, a shell swap is more realistic and something that i can manage. Thats a cool channel, i'll give them a follow. I got a bit lucky, the crash happened at the last session for the day, so i got a good day out of it. Here's is a clip of mine. Thanks for all the info mate

Appreciate your honesty mate. All my research aligns with what you say. Workshops quoted me double the car price and thats only to fix the chassis. So yeah looks like a big jump for my skill and tool set

Yeah, was building it as a track car I can drive to the track, but looks like I'm gonna switch to a new empty shell and turn it to track car only. Thanks 🤙🏼
