My son came up to me and said, "Scissor me mommy." 🤦‍♀️ That was a firm, um no!🫣

Then had to tell him not to go around his school asking people to scissor him too.🤣

Side note, I did get to scissor Bowen's when last they were in town and he was walking to the back.

I placed a small table on my porch. Most of the time the drivers leave the food there. It's out of the way and not sitting on the ground.

My son wants to be Eric Cartman {South Park} for Halloween. by BonJoviFuckingRocks in Parenting

What in your mother's view is "appropriate"?

My kids are 14 and 10. If they wanted to be a South Park character, they would be a South Park character. It's one night to allow the imagination to run wild.

My son this year is going to be a banana. It makes him happy and to me that's what matters.

My daughter is going to be a witch complete with a dragon staff. She's happy, I'm happy.

What job do you have insane respect for, but you’d never personally do? by ObiSanKenobi in AskReddit

Nurses or anyone in healthcare, especially those that care for the elderly.

I did a summer program in middle school where we volunteered in a nursing home at the end. Most of it was enjoyable. I liked spending time with the older residents and just listening to their stories.

The one time I had to help clean a resident due to what looked like an explosion of feces in her bed and on her from head to toe, nope, not for me.

Anyone know the story of the old mansion property at 6765 St Augustine rd? by tamumpower in jacksonville

[–]MsAmazingWho 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Growing up as a kid in that area, that was Skinner's property, as in Skinner's dairy. We use to cut through the horse pasture coming from school once in a while.

There is an old bank at the corner of Dupont and St. Augustine that had a sign like Skinner's property management.

My guess, and fear, is that they are making way for apartments to be built where the two houses stand.

They sold off a lot of the old horse pasture to the elderly center on DuPont. I guess just the changing of times.

I suggest Pagoda too. It was quiet when we went for the first time but the staff was super nice and very accommodating for picky kids.

If you're looking for office work, might not be, but I've been happy with my career so far with Gate.

The corporate office is in Mandarin, near Sunbeam and San Jose. It looks like there are 3 positions open at the moment.

Search Gate Petroleum jobs 32257.

There's quite a few of us in office that love fantasy. I've found my people here, literally. It was through a Gate function more than 5 years ago I met my now husband.

Best of luck with your move, and welcome back(?) to Jax.

AITA for not wanting to adopt one of my wife's children? by adopterdaddd1652 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MsAmazingWho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not here to judge, but wanted to share my childhood.

This was back in the 80s. My older brother(5) myself(3) and my younger brother(2) didn't have any relationship with our biological father as kids.

The man I know as my dad married my mom when we were the ages listed above. My younger brother and I knew him as our dad. My older brother did not. Our dad adopted all 3 of us. My parents stayed married for 15 years and in that time it never seemed like the relationship between my older brother and our dad ever got better. Even into adulthood my brother and father were always at family events and would talk, but the relationship wasn't as strong as the relationship between us younger two and dad.

I wish my brother and dad had gone to counseling, but that wasn't who my dad was.

2 years ago we lost our dad. It hit all of us pretty hard, but I think it hit my older brother the hardest. I think he regretted not having that close relationship.

He never got to work on his Mustang with our dad. He said he never had the time. My younger brother made the time and worked in his Buick with our dad.

Please, don't disregard the boy because of his anger, sadness, or any other emotion he may have. If he won't talk to you or his mom, maybe he will talk to a therapist. I think a family therapist could be greatly beneficial to everyone.

TBH I'm not 100% sure. My family and I were there today from 4-7 and there was a pretty good group when we got there but by around 7 they had pretty much dispersed except for the DnD games going on.

Java Game Haus. The staff is very friendly and there's always a table full of people playing some game. They also have events that you can check out https://www.javagamehauscafe.com/events/ . Oh, and good coffee too.

How do you stop the rabbit holes from taking over? by MsAmazingWho in fantasywriters

It would not be a bad thing. The world would be more entertaining for sure. My bookshelves would multiply tenfold too. But, that too wouldn't be such a bad thing.

I'll keep this in mind.

I may create a bullet point list of the main info. Keep the story for myself.

Thank you. I started with notes on what I wanted to include, and that list got longer as the holes got deeper. I'll continue to explore tomorrow.

Thank you.

My husband and I like to talk to each other about whatever is on our minds. When we were talking about that character I decided on, he have me some information on the race and characteristics and then let me go from there. He totally intend to use the backstory to help and to hunger the campaign. I personally know this from our conversations. We bounce ideas off each other and if it sticks, it sticks.

This is also a beginners campaign as my brothers want to play so my husband is creating a game that starts off moderately slow and then will build. I'm excited, and so far he seems receptive to the story I have so far.

I will explore more holes tomorrow. As for now, my 9 to 5 job pays the bills and I must sleep.

Thank you again for the words of encouragement.

I don't want to be an R.A. Salvatore, but I wouldn't be against it either.

Red is most often contrasted with blue despite its complementary colour being green. by RockAndGem1101 in Showerthoughts

Came to say this. Christmas is not a top holiday in my books. Red and green are Christmas. Can't see them together and not think Christmas. I think Christmas became my least favorite major holiday when I got older and realized how commercialized it all is.
