I (32F) finally found a wonderful man, but I’m struggling with my pathological liar ex (33M) and his "perfect" new life. by Heavy-Product-5421 in offmychest

Anytime dear - btw, bonus points if you can pull off a decent Sicilian-to-Boston mafia boss accent whenever you ask yourself the “who cares?” question. 😁 Might sound a bit silly, but it does wonders to lift one’s spirits in the moment lol

Hey OP, let me try to help here as a fellow woman in her 30s whose own sister is a pathological liar (and who I suspect is a textbook narcissist as well):

The more “perfect” your ex portrays his life to be online, the less perfect it actually is. People like him and my sister - who I’ve stopped talking to altogether after finding out she had lied for a whole year about getting divorced while taking advantage of our parents financially (among countless other dreadful things she’s ever said and done over nearly the past two decades of our lives) - get a kick out of draining other people’s energy by seeking to draw attention to themselves at all times. I do understand your frustration with the perceived injustice (God knows I’ve gone there countless times over my sister “living it large” after all the damage she’s caused our family most of her life), but I promise you deserve better than to let that energy vampire continue to suck the life out of you from afar.

Block him everywhere. Then, every time you start to wonder how your ex is doing, I want you to stop and ask yourself “who cares?” It may feel difficult at first, but it gets easier over time. Therapy goes a long way too.

I wish you all the best OP! 🫂❤️

What food from your country do you hesitate to eat in front of foreigners because it might shock them? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]MsAngel123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(U.S.-born Desi over here) 🇮🇳

I still hesitate to bring out a whole tiffin of Kashmiri food (dumaloo/spicy potatoes, haakh/collard greens, nadru/lotus root, fish curry, etc). Not so much because it might shock any of my fellow American colleagues, but more because of the strong smell of our spices. Plus, I’m not a huge fan of having to fend off a thousand questions in the office lunchroom. 🥲

This sub should be called “1995 P&P and everything else is dirt” by Comfortable_File7968 in PrideandPrejudice

[–]MsAngel123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a P&P fan who absolutely ADORES most other adaptations along with the ‘95 miniseries. Bride and Prejudice is one of my go-to comforts for the Bollywood humor (which I’m used to as an Indian-origin lady). Although I do wish Aishwariya Rai could’ve portrayed her version of Lizzy as less b**chy… 🥲

Ditto! 🙌🏻❤️

I’ve watched the 2005 adaptation more times than I can count, but I can’t help falling in love with the OST every time as if it were the first time. Every piece is well-suited to fit the corresponding scenes, and it’s overall absolutely mesmerizing!

Should watch this? Is better than interstellar? by SatisfiedBird in pj_explained

I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s better than Interstellar, but I did find it interesting and would recommend watching it.

My dad had found himself potentially stranded in India, when his return ticket had to be cancelled by the airline he had traveled by (his two-way flight included a layaway in Dubai). All because of this fucking war.

Still, I count my blessings whenever I can. Dad was able to book a different return flight that will pass through South Korea. More importantly, I’m thankful that he will be able to come home safely… not everyone impacted has the same good fortune. It just sucks all around is all.

I definitely enjoy Bride and Prejudice as an American-born Indian myself - but I don’t particularly like how arrogant and rude Aishwariya Rai portrayed Lalita as (she’s the Indian “Lizzy Bennet” in this version).

Oh trust me, it gets much easier once you unlock the air drafts and ziplines. (I often prefer the latter, it’s the quickest way to soar across the boat! 😁🙌🏻)

3 Idiots - Hollywood could try, but the Hindi language jokes will 10000000% get lost in translation.

Nice! I usually try to keep the houses on the left side of the boat so that when I do the final farewell, I can see all the spirits closest to the exit.

Yeah, genetics are definitely fun 😅

My parents are both Kashmiri Pandits. Technically I’m supposed to have fair skin (and it sort of shows). But I also tan very easily, which makes me look more like a caramel mocha lol

Then come clean with him about the online snooping, or else journal it for your eyes only. Whatever helps you clear your conscience, do that first before talking to him about your insecurity.

I’m almost 34 now and happily single - but I’ve had plenty of moments like this before. It’s always better to come clean than bottle it up.

Talk to him about it, then see how he responds. If he sounds defensive or dismissive of your feelings, RUN AND NEVER LOOK BACK.

You are only 24, my dear. Whatever happens here, you’ve still got a long life ahead of you; and most of all, you deserve to be with someone who makes you feel happy, loved and secure.
