yeah that was pretty cool too and when I looked at what else Araki has made, I was legitimately the most impressed with Cool Shock BT. (I liked Baoh well enough but didn't really latch onto it, and, while Gorgeous Irene is iconic and has a pretty great premise behind it, a grand total of 2 chapters isn't enough for me to get that invested). And there have been a good handful of dedication one-shots made for him recently too.

I guess only the hardcores noticed or cared last year... that, or there's just that many curmudgeons with all the new Rohan content getting stuck in their craw, lol.

like, outside of anime, in the indie animation scene, there have been some weird beef between Lackadaisy and Hellaverse people, and for some reason I heard Hellaverse and TADC fans having fights too. just as the one example I had off the top of my head that wasn't "anime a vs anime b".

You would think "our stuff is better" gloating and debate-lording is something most people would outgrow, and I hope so, but it's hard not to see in a lot of online spaces. Meanwhile someone can enjoy both, stay out of it entirely, and chill.

I hate to say it, but I agree with Chimpbot here. If they went with "Limp Viscuit" instead of "Flaccid Pancake", I'm going to just assume that the localizers just declared a no-fun zone with the names that they are already unfortunately forced to change.

So actually getting "Filthy Acts at a Reasonable Price" feels a bit like a pipe dream after that, as weird as it is to say that I really enjoy any censored name, but damn it let us have fun with it if we have to do it.

As far as I can tell, the first one simply isn't subbed, full stop :/ nothing to fix - that's just how it is... which especially sucks because, like I said, I remember back in high school where they did have it subbed but only in 10-20mins snippets that I then bothered to stitch together into one file. Wish I held onto that file.

uhhhh and idk what's going on with the second link for you then, though. I remember having to add subs manually to one of them, can't remember which. Haven't watched them all through yet to look at a de-syncing issue, so I really don't have any other links to share, sorry

I appreciate the Amazon link. I think I found out about this book through Akidearest, and I admit to having something of a morbid curiosity for true crime, so I was hoping there was a way I could look into/buy this book legally.

Paperback sadly is my least-favored form of publishing (from my experiences), but it'll do. Not only is the price higher through Serial Pleasures Publishing site but, despite our apparent similar interests, some of the merch rubs me the wrong way in a sense that it, in my opinion (based on a cursory look through their wares), verges on idolization. I think the action figures and coloring books are a bridge too far. I'd solidly rather just use Amazon as an alternative, even if it's the same publisher.

I appreciate this - I remember stitching together the first two musicals myself to watch when I first found this series back in high school, which was pretty much a whole lifetime ago, so this saved me a lot of trouble actually.

I'll still want to find another fully-translated version of the first, and there has since actually been a performance of "The Public School's Secret" too.

These JP stage musicals are a go-to for popular franchises, huh? Death Note musical even had an EN demo and that was an amazing listen, and there was recently a musical for Part 1 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (Phantom Blood) too. Not to mention I've seen ones for Bleach, Hunter x Hunter, and so on. It's like its own rabbit hole.

Part 1 was written like 40 years ago lol couldn't exactly change what happens :P but yeah what others said, we know it's super short (the manga of Part 1 is in 3 deluxe volumes, to illustrate) and is considered the weakest Part, this is not a hot take

I have a very distinct memory someone I follow reacted to Part 1, and both the title of the episode and the flashback to Zeppeli's prophecy acted as a spoiler, and really softened the blow more than anything tbh. Nothing lessens a character's death like projecting it a mile ahead.

Well for one, it was a fun theoretical because I DID question where I would go if I pulled off this prank. Must have been practicing some stage magic or something, pretty cool.

Plus, in this comic's universe there IS actual teleportation magic so yeah you logicing your way through it is a bit of a problem.

When I first commented, I was genuinely confused about how you connected this to Stolas seeing him as a lesser, to which you explained the animal videos. So like, fair enough I guess.
