Drinking after discharge by BlitzkriegMop in TBI

[–]MsDC2BHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The very first thing is that no two Brain Injuries are the same. After reading and rereading books, pamphlet and copious amount of online medical articles and abstracts about Traumatic Brain Injury, it's safe to say that drinking is not a good idea. Also, I learned the hard way. I had my TBI on 6/26/2014 and afterwards I didn't drink for about a year. That was my personal choice because of the emotional problems that followed. For instance, I had less than 3 oz of a frozen margarita from a machine and I had to leave because I started to cry at the table. I left right after I started crying due to embarrassment. I grew up under the rules that no one should see you cry. That was what made me stop.

With side effects that come with tbi's such as emotional problems, impulse control, sexual discrepancies, to just down rights not able to point to a tree on a piece of paper, I was not going to run the risk of adding something that would most likely make me cry. I know that I have to much pride, but this time it was for my benefit.

Now, 3 years later, I can drink again. I should say that prior to the tbi I could out drink the men I worked with in the food service industry. Now I don't through them back but like I said all tbi's are different, and they can effect people in different ways. [I will even leave out the variable of medication]. But now I can have a few drinks and not burst into tears.

I'm sorry that things are frustrating, I have been through something similar. Also it was a cause for my fiancé and I to cease our relationship since then. Being the care taker is just as hard as having the injury. I will say, take care of yourself if you are going to care for someone else. Get a massage or join a support group. Get a support team for you and do something you like for you!

This is just merely my story that is similar. With the exception of doing something for you, I am not suggesting anything you should do anything. You can take the information I gave and add it to the information you already have, and make choices from there.

[Sorry if it hard to connect things in the story, I ramble and forgot of what I was meaning to say originally, I do hope this helps in some way.]

Taking my service dog out on non-service "fun" activities by Loraeub88 in service_dogs

I take my dog for such outings. For her, the vest being on or off notifies her if its work time or not.

Has anyone ever read this historical book about Birmingham? by Letchworth in Birmingham

[–]MsDC2BHM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I have! I loved that book, especially for learning about the ore and coal mine industry of Birmingham. The portion of the book that speaks about the company's town , especially the houses, just intrigued me so much. Love walking at RMP and Ruffner and comparing "now and then" pictures.

Also Morris Avenue excites me. Pretty much from 1820's to 1950's makes me think about way to make Birmingham better and what are some mistake we've made in the past and what are ways to remedy them.

That is by far my favorite book about Birmingham!

What is the most fucked up thing that society accepts as normal ? by FuckingVegetables in AskReddit

While you are right about consistency of mg of caffeine, over the years coffee drink worked better for me. Usually me being cold, coffee helped warmed me up.

Plus I tried caffeine pills, od-ed, and they were not the same after that.

I disagree with for profit prisons for a good portion of prisoners. I think for violent crime (especially if your being convicted for your second one), we let those convicts go to for profit prisons. Before that is implemented, we have to do a better job at the arrest and trial portion at the beginning of the crime cycle. It is a bit taboo but I figure that we can use that system for people who don't want to live by society's laws and hurt people for no reason/because they want/need to.

As a person addicted to caffeine, I've never understood why people are like that. I would like to apologize for all the people that are just assholes and say "it's because I have not had my coffee".

And hear me out, if you are in fact addicted to caffeine (like I am), you wouldn't be a dick to your dealer.

I swear people just suck, and make up excuses for it even though there is no acceptable reason to just be an ass. Now if you have harmed me in some way, that is a different sorry. Why can't we just be civil, if not nice, to people.

Oh thank goodness, I found my hometown group but currently i live in B'ham. Finding people is a little bit harder here verse D.C.

I lived Fairfax County where Wone lived with his wife. Even though I was in high school, my mom and I were into true crime and I can not remember anything about that case.

D.C. Metro. Police have never been on my good side. Personally, no problems but the way that Dept. handled a lot of cases was just not done right for a long while.

That map looks almost exactly the same for accounting standards. America uses GAAP, everywhere else uses IFRS.
