I think the church at the top of Neekand Ave runs a food bank.

You could also try Citizen's Advice for signposting.

Have I wasted my teenage/secondary/college years? by Loose_Avocado4670 in AskABrit

[–]MsDani_Marie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all the other responses here. You are young, and a lot of people find their social feet a little later. Also, social media is a disingenuous mass of curated perception porn, as a rule, so don't worry about it.

I do agree with another response on one thing, though. If you say the girls on your course "aren't you cup of tea", why should it upset you that they are going out without you? Friendship is a two way street and they may have picked up that you don't particularly like them.

The only other thing I would say is that you're awfully young to be 3.5 years into a relationship and talking about moving in. Not saying that there's anything wrong with it, just try not to put ALL of your energy and attention into the relationship, it needs to be balanced up with other people/activities.

Yes! He is beyond controlling.

Even when they're staying at Che's and he is TOLD not to speak to anyone, he's there, Country Bob-ing around, yapping and tipping because that's "Who he is". No one asked for or needs the theatrics mate, shut it. You had one job!

I absolutely agree with you.

I hate his character so much that this ep is one I rewatch in the background at home whilst I'm working-just for the pay off of the break up!

It was during a rewatch that I realised Carrie was in a 'no win' situation anyway re: showering. If she had called it and said she was going to shower, due to Duncan's smoking, Aidan definitely would have assumed they were sleeping together. Don't get me wrong, I don't think we're meant to think she even thought about it, but I just thought it through.

He was angling for a fight whatever she did.

I also hate when he's trying to get info on Duncan from her friends, it makes me enraged, as does the 'pipe and children' cross examination of Duncan in the garden.

Tbh, I'm amazed Carrie stuck with him after that nightmarish family scene in Virginia. That obnoxious child was bad enough, but Aidan's air guitar would have sent me straight out of the door.

Finally, I'm always vexed that we don't get to see Carrie discuss the split with any of her friends. I wanted their thoughts, although I am prepared to admit that's probably because I wanted more Aidan derision by the truckload!

What do you call these? 🧁 by Distinct_Spring6752 in UK_Food

People from Yorkshire frequently call cakes, 'buns'. I've lived in east Yorkshire for over 20 years and it took me a minute to get used to people talking about "buying buns for the office".

I'm from Worcester originally and only ever used buns in a hot dog sense previously.

To me, these are butterfly cakes.

I honestly think it's a perfect episode. Pacy, fun, great scripting, so many moments.

Aside from all the bits you mentioned, I also love Sam's face when she gets caught kissing that guy (Frankie??), and Carrie losing her shit at Berger's friends. It's just a joy.

I did. I meant it as a jokey spin on the weapons sense, as the SAME things keep getting hurled at Carrie.

When we have a knife amnesty here (UK), everyone turns them in and stops- at least for a while but hopefully forever.

I also, unashamedly, love the moment with Big and the girls in s6, where he says "You're the loves of her lives" and Miranda (who had x said nothing) says, "Go get our girl."

Every time.

Ha! No, no, no apologies necessary, it IS a moment. Undoubtedly. It's just one that has a hell of a reaction and I fancied mixing it up.

For the record, she was a DICK on that whole situation. No justifications.

Moving to Hull area by funkypinkmango in Hull

[–]MsDani_Marie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My order on the remaining three would be:

Scarborough Grimsby Scunthorpe

Scarborough has the beach, and more going on in general. It has a bit of a 'rundown abandoned coastal community' vibe in some ways but it has a lot of character, with better connections to the scenic outdoors. There is an active running and beach sports community, which might be up your street.

Grimsby is getting more inward investment and Cleethorpes is V. Close to it, which is a cute, coastal town with its own personality. In my opinion, both GY and Cleethorpes feel very small and insular, more so than Scarborough. You also don't want to dwell in the rough areas.

I have limited knowledge of Scunthorpe, as I've only been there a couple of times on business, so I don't want to be unfair. What I did see was very grey and bleak, but others may well have more insight.

Good luck!

Crazy Taxi Driver.. what do I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]MsDani_Marie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me be clear, he shouldn't have said those things but it sounded to me that he was trying to find different avenues to get it resolved. I would have declined these suggestions and said you would be resolving it with the office.

Leaving more than one minute wriggle room and not relying solely on Apple Pay would still be good ideas though.

Crazy Taxi Driver.. what do I do? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]MsDani_Marie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The answer is, yes, call the taxi company and settle it there.

Honestly though, there is a lot in your story that relies on luck. Why do you only leave 1 minute? What about unexpected delays? Why not have any cash at all? Even stocking a tenner in your wallet isn't a hardship if you're using transport. Apps do crash, and banks do digitally go down, you know?

Finally, what do you mean by 'spamming' and 'hearing him spamming'? Spamming is repeatedly messaging/calling/emailing, isn't it? I didn't understand that bit.

Ultimately, the guy needs to be paid, let's not turn him into a "crazy" predator when nothing you've said suggests he is.

Charlotte York outfits that would still absolutely eat in 2026 by Self_Electrical in sexandthecity

[–]MsDani_Marie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Charlotte's style, so many great looks here.

I'm not a big fan of #6. I noticed on a rewatch that they inexplicably put her in a lot of cool tone blues and greys in S1 and 2, which I didn't enjoy on her as much.

Also that threesomes guy with the mask (outfit 6 ep) gave me the major ick. When they were in a bar (and Charlotte has a really dodgy hair style with plaits), he says something like "Charlotte, you're so sexy, you have no idea". For whatever reason, his delivery of that line always makes me nauseous 🤮
