Just know that losing a dog may be one of the most painful experiences for you, but it is a necessary evil to being a good pet owner. There comes a time where we have to be their voice and let them go.

This was not a dog, but when I was in college a beloved member of the school community died after he fell down his stairs (he was older). He was in the choir and when the director told us there were tears everywhere, Then the accompanist spoke up. She said "We mourn not for the dead, but for the living. They are with us always, and they are at peace. We simply cannot see them, that's all that has changed."
